Superliminal is a first-person puzzle game that begins when you fall asleep at 3AM watching a commercial for Dr. Pierce's dream therapy program. You awaken in a surreal, dreamlike environment where the fundamental rules of reality no longer apply—perception literally becomes reality. Your only path forward is to solve impossible puzzles and escape this strange world.

The core gameplay revolves around manipulating perspective and optical illusions to progress. Objects change size and properties based on your viewpoint; what appears small from one angle becomes large from another. You'll resize items, exploit forced perspective, and leverage visual ambiguity to navigate obstacles and unlock new areas. The puzzle design consistently rewards creative thinking and unconventional approaches.

Superliminal distinguishes itself through its minimalist visual aesthetic and philosophical undertones about perception and reality. Rather than relying on complex mechanics, the game focuses on elegant, perspective-based challenges that feel fresh within the first-person puzzle genre. The subdued art direction and intriguingly voiced narrative create an immersive, contemplative atmosphere that complements the mind-bending puzzles.

The experience is relatively brief—averaging around 2.5 hours for the main story—but maintains consistent quality throughout. The game includes developer commentary, a challenge mode for speedrunners, and Steam Workshop support for custom content. This title appeals to puzzle enthusiasts seeking innovation over length, and to players who appreciate games that challenge conventional thinking and reward lateral problem-solving.
