BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites is a remastered 2D hack-and-slash platformer that brings WayForward's 2011 cult classic back with modernized visuals and enhanced gameplay. You play as Rayne, a fierce dhampir, navigating through a sprawling underground castle filled with gothic architecture, grotesque monsters, and deadly traps. The Brimstone Society has summoned you to confront your father, Kagan, in a blood-soaked confrontation that drives the narrative forward.

The core gameplay loop centers on combat encounters and platforming challenges across fifteen distinct chapters. You'll engage in fast-paced melee combat using Rayne's arm blades, supplemented by a handgun and optional light cannon, locking down enemies in contained arenas before progressing. Platforming sections demand precise timing and reflexes as you navigate hazardous environments, jump between platforms, and avoid environmental hazards. The game emphasizes a balance between aggressive combat and methodical traversal.

Fresh Bites introduces rebalanced difficulty settings that make the experience more approachable than the original while preserving a punishing classic mode for veterans. High-resolution character sprites and support for displays up to 4K deliver a sharper visual presentation. The remaster features entirely new voice performances from Laura Bailey as Rayne and Troy Baker as Kagan, alongside other cast members who bring renewed life to the original dialogue.

This title appeals to fans of action platformers, hack-and-slash games, and the BloodRayne franchise. The game's relatively short playtime and challenging difficulty curve make it ideal for players seeking a focused, skill-based experience rather than an expansive adventure. Its stylized gothic aesthetic and visceral combat create a distinct identity within the platformer genre.
