Flamecraft, the digital version of the tabletop game about dragons and the shops they work in, came out on 17 September on Steam, PS5, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. Monster Couch developed it and publishes it. The official price is €19.99, and Steam, Xbox and Switch all opened with a launch discount. Nobody has said when that discount ends.
We track the PC and Switch versions, so here is where each one costs least this morning, and what you get for the money.
What you actually do in Flamecraft
You play a Flamekeeper. Each turn you visit shops around town and leave dragons in them as a resource, and that is how you build up your reputation. Enchantments can trigger several dragon abilities at once, which is where the combos come from. There are more than 70 animated dragons and 30 different shops.
You can play alone against bots at several difficulty levels, or with other people locally and online, up to five players in total. Online matches come in quick, long and custom flavours, with cross-play between platforms. Becca Scott narrates the interactive tutorial, and solo players get their own achievements plus a standalone story mode.
On PC, two shops beat Steam's launch discount
Steam is selling it for €15.99 (no fees), Steam Key: that is the 20% launch discount on €19.99. Two shops go lower, and neither adds a payment fee on top:
- Instant Gaming: €13.49 (no fees), Steam Key, Europe region. It has been at that price since 19 September.
- Cdkeys Com: €14.19 (no fees), Steam Key, Global.
So Instant Gaming saves you €2.50 on Steam, and Cdkeys Com €1.80. The two keys are only €0.70 apart. The Instant Gaming key is locked to the Europe region, which makes no difference if you are buying from Europe; outside it, the Global key from Cdkeys Com is the safer pick.
Both are Steam Keys: you redeem them in the Steam client and the game stays in your library for good, exactly as if you had paid Valve. If you want to buy Flamecraft key today, Instant Gaming is the cheapest way to own it.
Switch: one offer, and it is an account
For the Switch version we only have one offer right now: Difmark, at €11.75 with the coupon Gocdkeys (€12.28 with fees), Account. It is worth knowing what that means before you pay. You don't get a code for your own Nintendo account, you get the login for somebody else's account that already owns the game. It costs less, but the copy is never yours.
Everything we have for this version is on the Flamecraft Switch page. We don't have pages for the PS5 or Xbox versions, so we can't tell you what those cost.
Six days is too early for a price history
The game has been on sale for less than a week. That is not enough to know what a normal price looks like, let alone how low it can go, so we'll leave record lows out of it. One thing we can work out: if Steam's launch discount ends and it goes back to €19.99, the gap to Instant Gaming's €13.49 grows from €2.50 to €6.50.
The first players are happy with it. On Steam it is rated "Very Positive", with 97% of 89 reviews in favour. That is a small sample, but a clear one.
