The conversation around Crimson Desert has changed subject. It is no longer about whether the game would arrive but about what lies ahead of it, and two very different things are getting mixed together there: what Pearl Abyss has confirmed and what it has merely said it is looking into. They are worth separating, because one comes with dates and the other does not even come with a promise.

Free updates come first, the DLC after

The studio published a second developer roadmap that sorts the post-launch work into two stretches. The first is a run of free updates landing month by month through the summer; not mere bug-fix patches, but content and systems added to the game you already own. The second stretch is the paid DLC, which arrives after that run.

What is actually known about the first DLC?

That it exists and is in development: that much is official. What is not on the table yet is the detail people want, namely what it costs, what is inside and what day it lands. Pearl Abyss has said it will give pricing, content composition and a launch window in the third quarter, so any figure circulating before then is third-party speculation, not studio information.

Multiplayer is not announced: it is under research

This is where headlines and reality drift furthest apart. Pearl Abyss has acknowledged that it is seriously investigating the possibility of taking Crimson Desert into multiplayer territory, from both a technical and a design standpoint. Investigating is not confirming. As of today there is no announced co-operative mode, no date and no concrete shape: there is an open study and a stated intent to treat the game as a growing brand rather than a closed release.

Why adding multiplayer is not "switching on a mode"

The studio itself has explained the caution, and it is reasonable. A game built as a single-player adventure does not have the infrastructure that playing together demands: it needs server architecture, a rebalancing of systems designed around one person carrying the difficulty, stability guaranteed across different platforms, and a decision about the model that operates all of it over time. That is a project in itself, not a box to tick.

ItemActual status
Free updatesConfirmed and under way, month by month.
First paid DLCIn development. Pricing, content and date to be detailed in the third quarter.
Multiplayer modeNot announced. The studio is researching feasibility.
Switch 2 versionConfirmed by the studio.
The distinction that matters. If you are deciding whether to jump in now, count only what is confirmed: the game as it stands plus the free updates. The DLC is foreseeable but still undetailed, and multiplayer should not weigh on the decision while it remains a line of research.

A Switch 2 version, already confirmed

One more platform joins the list: the studio has confirmed it is preparing a Nintendo Switch 2 version. It changes nothing for anyone playing on PC or on current consoles, but it does explain why Pearl Abyss talks about platform expansion and brand continuity rather than treating the work as finished.

What formats you will see in the listing

On PC you get ordinary keys, Deluxe and Day One editions, the odd Steam Gift line and others marked Steam Account, which are not your purchase but access to somebody else’s. On console the picture is narrower: PSN and Xbox codes, with fewer sellers competing. The format label sits on every row and decides what you receive; the price history is on the Crimson Desert price page.

What is worth being clear on right now

That there is a public roadmap, that the DLC is confirmed and still undetailed, and that multiplayer is a possibility under study and nothing more. If that suits you and you want in before the paid content lands, you can buy Crimson Desert key after checking the platform and the format label on each offer.
