Steam has Clock Tower: Rewind at €7.80 (no fees) until 2 November, 60% off its usual €19.50 (no fees). It's part of the Halloween sale, and the timing is fitting: the game launched on Steam two years ago today.
If it's been sitting on your wishlist, now's the time.
The lowest Steam has sold it for
We've been tracking its Steam price since the end of April, so roughly six months. In all that time it never went below €11.70 (no fees). This week's discount takes it lower than we've ever seen it on Steam.
Once 2 November passes it goes back to full price. If you miss it, set a price alert and we'll tell you when it drops again.
Steam, Humble Bundle or GOG?
Humble Bundle sells a Steam key for €7.99 (no fees), a few cents more than buying on Steam directly, so there's little point this week. GOG has the DRM-free version at €19.94 (no fees), with no discount. Only worth it if you want it on GOG specifically.
No reseller is undercutting Steam with a key this morning. You'll find every offer to buy Clock Tower: Rewind key on the game page.
Why we'd skip the cheaper Steam accounts
The only things cheaper than Steam are accounts. Key4Games asks €6.13 with the GOCDKEYS15 coupon (€6.66 with fees), and Difmark €7.13 with the Gocdkeys coupon (€7.45 with fees).
Buy an account and you get the username and password of somebody else's Steam account that already owns the game. It never shows up in your own library, and if the seller recovers the account, the game goes with it. Compared with Key4Games, Steam costs you just over a euro more and the copy is yours to keep.
Discounted on PS5 and PS4 as well
The PlayStation Store has it at €7.99 (no fees) on both PS5 and PS4. You'll find slightly cheaper accounts here too: Key4Games sells a PS5 one at €5.70 with GOCDKEYS15 (€6.21 with fees), and Difmark a PS4 one at €5.39 with Gocdkeys (€5.63 with fees). Same story as on PC, so we'd buy it from the official store.
What Clock Tower: Rewind is
This is the original Clock Tower, which Human Entertainment released on the Super Famicom in the mid-nineties and which never came out officially outside Japan. WayForward and Limited Run Games brought it back, with SUNSOFT publishing.
You play Jennifer, an orphan trapped in the Barrows mansion and hunted by Scissorman, a stalker carrying a giant pair of shears. It's a point-and-click horror game with no combat at all. You hide, or you run.
There are two modes, Original and Rewind. Rewind adds a new animated intro, animated comics, an interview with the creator, a gallery, a music player and save states. The game is short and has several endings, so it's designed for more than one playthrough. On Steam its reviews are "Very Positive", with 88% of 467 in favour.
Prices checked on the morning of 28 October.
