Sorting the Anno 117 board by price puts a listing under 15 € at the very top and one over 60 € at the bottom, for what looks like the same game. It is not the same purchase. Before you buy Anno 117 Pax Romana on PC, it helps to know that Ubisoft Mainz's Roman city-builder is sold through two different redemption paths, and the price gap is mostly telling you which one you are about to get.
A Ubisoft release that is also sold on the Steam side
Ubisoft publishes Anno 117 Pax Romana itself, and its PC catalogue has long asked players for a Ubisoft Connect account even when the copy came from Steam. That leaves two families of listings on our board: codes meant for Ubisoft Connect, and codes or transfers that live entirely on the Steam side. Both play the same campaign. What changes is where the code goes, whether the copy ends up in a library you own, and how easily support can help you if something fails.
What each format actually hands you
| Format | Where it redeems | Entry price now |
|---|---|---|
| Uplay Key | Ubisoft Connect, under your own account. The copy stays in your library. | € (with coupon GOCDKEYS10) |
| Standard | A plain activation the seller states on the listing. Check the launcher named there before paying. | € (with coupon SEAL17CDK) |
| Steam Gift | A gift transfer sent from someone else's account. It works, but it depends on the sender and often carries a region. | € (with coupon SEAL17CDK) |
| Steam Account | Access to somebody else's account that already owns the game. Nothing lands in a library of yours. | € (with coupon Gocdkeys) |
Read the table top to bottom and the famous discount headline dissolves. The bottom row is almost always the cheapest number on the page, and it is also the only row where you never own anything. The row most buyers actually want is the first one, currently available at Driffle, and that is the line worth comparing against.
The whole board, sorted by the price you really pay
Our panel resolves the final figure with the seller's coupon already applied, which is why the ordering here sometimes disagrees with what a store shows on its own page.
Europe or Global: the label that decides whether the code redeems
A large share of the cheaper activations are tagged Europe. That tag is not decoration: a European activation bought from outside Europe can simply refuse to redeem, and a Global copy usually costs a little more precisely because it drags no restriction behind it. When two offers sit a euro apart, this is very often the whole reason.
From payment to your first settlement
- Buy the format you decided on, not the lowest line on the page.
- Open the launcher the listing names — Ubisoft Connect for a Uplay code, Steam for the Steam-side ones — and use its own redeem option.
- If the code is rejected, stop and open a ticket with the seller straight away. Marketplaces expect this and replace undelivered or dead codes.
- Link the Ubisoft account when the game asks for it. Ubisoft's PC releases normally do, whichever store the copy came from.
Three doubts that survive until checkout
Why is one seller so far below everyone else?
Almost always one of three reasons: it is a different format, it is a regional copy, or a cart coupon is already priced in. None of the three is a scandal, but none of them is a discount on the same product either.
Is the reviewers' verdict good enough to buy at full price?
Critics landed at 83 on OpenCritic across 95 reviews, with 89% recommending it — a strong showing for a city-builder, and the reason the resale board has stayed well under Ubisoft's own list price rather than collapsing.
Does the Gold edition change any of this?
Only the contents. The redemption rules are identical, so decide the format first and the edition second.
In two lines
Pick the redemption path before you pick a price, then let the board find the cheapest seller inside that path. When you are ready, buy Anno 117 Pax Romana key from whoever wins the line that matters to you.
