Amazon has added Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed to the games Prime members can play at no extra cost on Amazon Luna during November, in the countries where Luna is available. It's part of this month's batch along with Madden NFL 27, NBA THE RUN, Mixtape and Police Simulator: Patrol Officers. Amazon hasn't said on which day it leaves the catalogue.
The Wii platformer, redrawn
Rebrushed is a remake of the original Epic Mickey on Wii, the game Warren Spector dreamed up, rebuilt by Purple Lamp. Mickey ends up in the Wasteland, a world full of forgotten Disney characters such as Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, and his magic brush does most of the work: paint brings the scenery back, thinner wipes it away to uncover hidden paths. Your choices change how the story ends, and the remake adds moves the original didn't have, like running and a ground pound. It came out in September two years ago.
Steam players rate it Very Positive: 1,202 of its 1,306 reviews are positive.
What Prime on Luna gives you, and what it doesn't
Luna is cloud gaming. The game runs on Amazon's servers and you stream it, so there's nothing to download. You also don't own anything: cancel Prime, or wait until the game drops out of the catalogue, and it's gone. You'll want a good, stable connection too, because in a platformer any lag shows up the moment you misjudge a jump.
Your own copy on PC from €9.76
Steam sells it for €39.99 (no fees). Key stores go much lower: the best PC offer this morning was a Steam Key at Gameseal for €9.76 with coupon SEAL17CKD (€10.90 with fees). You redeem it on your own Steam account and the game stays in your library, Prime or no Prime.
If you play on console, Xbox, PS4, PS5 and Switch have their own pages in the comparison.
Luna or your own copy?
- Luna with Prime: nothing extra to pay if you already have Prime and nothing to install, but you need a decent connection and you lose access once it leaves the catalogue, on a date Amazon hasn't given.
- Steam Key: €9.76 (€10.90 with fees), runs on your own PC and stays yours.
If you just want to see whether the remake clicks with you, Luna is a free try. If you think you'll still be playing after November, or your internet is patchy, the key makes more sense.
Is it a good time to buy?
The key launched at €29.81 and its historical median is €12.16, so this morning's €9.76 is about 20% below what it usually costs. It has only been cheaper on 66 of the 464 days we've tracked. The record is a lot lower, though: €4.26 on 20 August. All of these historical figures are without fees.
That leaves a sensible middle route: play it on Luna this month and set a price alert so we email you if the key drops back towards that low. If you'd rather have it now, every offer is on the page to buy Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed key.
Prices checked on the morning of 6 November.
