Fatekeeper gets more expensive on Steam tomorrow, Friday 6 November. THQ Nordic and Paraglacial confirmed it in a press release on 30 October: the price goes from €9.99 / $9.99 to €14.99 / $14.99 (Steam prices, no fees). So today, Thursday 5 November, is the last day you can get it for €9.99.
Five euros more from Friday
That's a 50% jump. Fatekeeper has been in early access on Steam since 2 June, and it started out even cheaper, at €7.99 until 16 June. There's no date for version 1.0 yet.
What kind of game Fatekeeper is
A first-person action RPG set in a dark fantasy world, made by Paraglacial, a 13-person studio from Germany, and published by THQ Nordic. It takes its cue from Dark Messiah of Might and Magic: melee fights where a well-timed parry opens up the enemy, elemental magic that can freeze foes or fling them with telekinesis, and physics you can turn against them. There are no fixed classes, and the levels are built by hand rather than generated.
Players seem to like what's there so far. Steam reviews are Very Positive: 8,932 of 11,165 are positive, roughly 80%.
What it costs on PC this morning
The cheapest key is on Steam itself: a Steam Key at €9.99 (no fees), the price that ends today. Key stores do have cheaper options, and the cheapest of them are Steam Accounts. The lowest is at Key4Games, €3.41 with coupon GOCDKEYS15 (€3.81 with fees). With an account you log into someone else's Steam account, and the game never ends up in your name, which is why we recommend the key. K4G also sells a Steam Gift for €8.51 with coupon GCDK14DEAL (€9.63 with fees), a little under Steam even with fees: it's sent to you as a gift and stays in your own Steam library.
Has it ever been cheaper?
Not often. €9.99 (no fees) is the usual price: the key's historical median is €9.99 (no fees), and in the 139 days we've been tracking it, it has only been cheaper on 23 of them. Its lowest price was €7.99 (no fees), on 16 June, the last day of the launch price.
Buy today or wait?
If Fatekeeper is already on your wishlist, today makes sense: from tomorrow the same Steam Key costs five euros more on Steam. What the key stores will do after the increase we don't know yet; it will show up in the prices on the game page. If you'd rather wait, set a price alert and we'll email you when it reaches the price you pick. Every current offer is on the page to buy the Fatekeeper key.
