This War of Mine is €1.89 (no fees) on Steam until 14 November, 90% off its usual €18.99 (no fees). It's part of 11 bit studios' publisher sale, which also takes in Frostpunk and Moonlighter, among others.
The base game isn't the headline this time, though. The Complete Edition, which bundles the game with The Little Ones and the Stories Season Pass, is down to €3.33 (no fees) from €30.97 (no fees). That's 89% off, and it's the price worth paying attention to.
What This War of Mine is about
You don't play a soldier. You look after a small group of civilians trying to stay alive in a besieged city, inspired by the siege of Sarajevo. Days are spent in the shelter building, cooking, patching people up and keeping morale from collapsing. At night one of them heads out to scavenge, and that's when the game starts asking uncomfortable questions: what do you take, who do you take it from, and how far will you go to get through another week?
Players still rate it highly: 92% positive across 23,111 Steam reviews, and 87% of the 230 written in the last 30 days.
The Complete Edition against buying the parts
The Little Ones adds children to the shelter. The Stories Season Pass covers the narrative episodes: Father's Promise, The Last Broadcast and Fading Embers. Here's how everything is priced on Steam during the sale:
| On Steam now | Normal price | |
|---|---|---|
| This War of Mine | €1.89 (no fees), -90% | €18.99 (no fees) |
| Complete Edition | €3.33 (no fees), -89% | €30.97 (no fees) |
| Stories Season Pass | €1.04 (no fees), -85% | €6.99 (no fees) |
| The Little Ones | €1.24 (no fees), -75% | €4.99 (no fees) |
Bought one by one, the game, the season pass and The Little Ones come to €4.17 (no fees). The Complete Edition gets you the same for 84 cents less, in a single purchase.
Already in your library? Just pick up the DLC
Plenty of people bought This War of Mine years ago and never went further. If that's you, skip the Complete Edition and grab the two add-ons: €1.04 (no fees) for the season pass plus €1.24 (no fees) for The Little Ones, €2.28 (no fees) in total.
One thing to avoid: buying the Stories episodes separately. Father's Promise is €0.79, The Last Broadcast €1.59 and Fading Embers €1.59 (all no fees). That adds up to €3.97 for what the pass gives you for €1.04.
Steam or a reseller for the base game
The cheapest key we found this morning is a Steam Key at Driffle for €0.99 with coupon GOCDKEYS10 (€1.43 with fees). Next to Steam's €1.89 (no fees), you save 46 cents. All 50 offers from 18 stores to buy This War of Mine key are on the game page.
For the base game alone, either option is fine. If you also want the DLC, the key stops making sense: €1.43 for the key plus €2.28 for the two add-ons on Steam is €3.71, more than the Complete Edition.
How cheap This War of Mine usually gets
This €1.89 isn't a one-off. Among resellers the game has hovered around a euro since July: the monthly low was €1.01 in July, €1.02 in August and €1.19 in September, before climbing back to €2.00 in October. The key's historical median is €2.35. These figures are all without fees and mix every format we track.
In other words, one to two euros is the going rate for the base game most of the year. The Complete Edition at €3.33 (no fees) is what's genuinely rare here.
So, which one?
- You don't own it: the Complete Edition on Steam.
- You own it: the season pass and The Little Ones.
- You only want the base game: it costs one to two euros wherever you buy it.
The sale ends on 14 November. If you'd rather wait for a lower price, set a price alert and we'll email you when it drops.
