SEGA is letting anyone play Football Manager 27 before it comes out. The Launch Preview went live on PC and Mac on 29 October at 18:00 GMT and stays free for five days, until 3 November at the same time. The full game follows on 10 November.
It's on Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Microsoft Store, and it's also included in Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass. You don't need to sign up for anything separately.
Free until 3 November, then only if you pre-order
When the free window closes, the Launch Preview keeps running but you have to pay for it. From 3 November at 18:00 GMT until launch, anyone who pre-orders from a digital store authorised by SEGA gets 10% off and can carry on playing. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers keep access through their subscription.
Whatever you start this week isn't thrown away. Your save carries over into the paid stretch and then into the full game, so a season you begin during the trial can be picked up on the 10th exactly where you left it.
SEGA also warns that some club badges and some club or player data may be missing or wrong in the preview while licences are still being sorted out. If a crest looks off, that's the reason.
What a pre-order costs this morning
We're tracking 14 offers for the PC version. The cheap ones are all Steam keys for Europe, sold as pre-orders, and the top four need a coupon to hit these prices:
- Kinguin: €30.23 with coupon OCTGOC10 (€32.99 with fees), Steam key.
- K4G: €30.95 with coupon GCDK14DEAL (€33.98 with fees), Steam key.
- Eneba: €31.28 with coupon Gocdkeys10 (€34.52 with fees), Steam key.
- Driffle: €33.29 with coupon GOCDKEYS10 (€34.89 with fees), Steam key.
- Instant Gaming: €35.49 (no fees), Steam key, no coupon needed.
- Cdkeys Com: €35.79 (no fees), Steam key.
Steam itself charges €53.99 (no fees). If SEGA's 10% from 3 November is applied to that €53.99, you'd pay €48.59 (no fees); that's our own calculation, not a price SEGA has published. Even so, the Kinguin key works out about €15 cheaper, and about €21 below what Steam asks today. You'll find every offer to buy Football Manager 27 key on the game page.
G2A also lists a "Steam Account" for €43.67 (€43.96 with fees). That gets you the login to somebody else's Steam account that owns the game. It never shows up in your own library, and it costs more than any of the keys above, so we'd leave it alone.
The catch with buying from a reseller
A reseller key is a pre-order that gets delivered for launch. What we can't tell you is whether it also lets you keep playing the paid Launch Preview between 3 and 10 November. SEGA links that perk to the stores it has authorised. The safe assumption is that you'll be without the game for a week.
So which should you pick?
If a week off doesn't bother you, play the free trial until the 3rd, make up your mind, and then buy the key. That saves you roughly €20 on Steam's full price, and your save will be there on launch day.
If you don't want to stop at all, you'll have to pre-order from a store SEGA has authorised, or keep playing through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass. It costs more, but your season doesn't get interrupted.
Still on the fence? Set a price alert and we'll email you if the keys drop before release.
Prices checked on the morning of 30 October.
