Trivia Murder Party 3 is the first game in the Trivia Murder Party series to be released as a standalone title. Up to eight players play as camp counselors whose life forces are trapped in stuffed dolls in an abandoned campsite, where a serial killer host tasks them with answering trivia questions correctly, or else face life-or-death mini games. The setting is Camp Mass Acres, a summer camp full of trivia, murder, and outdoor enrichment.

The core gameplay loop begins with multiple-choice trivia questions asked hourly, where players who answer correctly receive currency called thread and remain safe, while those who answer incorrectly must play minigames for survival, with only at-risk players facing elimination. New gameplay elements include Plot Twists, which inject surprise and variety by changing up the rules or social dynamics of every game. The game offers more trivia questions than previous entries, along with new Killing Floor minigames and revamped minigames from earlier series installments.

The design focuses on providing a variety of minigames with strong replayability, creating exciting brand new minigames and bringing back fan favorites re-imagined and modernized to take full advantage of the new 3D engine.
