Terra Invicta: Dark Skies expands the acclaimed grand strategy game with two distinct alternate-history scenarios that reshape humanity's struggle against alien invasion. The 2003 scenario begins during the US-led invasion of Iraq, while the Broken Earth scenario depicts a world where the Cuban Missile Crisis ended in nuclear war and humanity has spent more than a century rebuilding. Each scenario presents radically different geopolitical starting conditions before the extraterrestrial threat emerges.

You control an ideological organization rather than a country directly, using councilors to gain influence, investigate rivals and conduct covert operations. The expansion maintains the core gameplay loop of Terra Invicta while introducing scenario-specific technologies and projects tailored to each alternate history. The 2003 start date brings a longer, slower fight on Earth compared to the base game's default timeline, emphasizing geopolitical maneuvering and espionage before space colonization becomes viable.

The DLC includes scenario-specific technologies, projects and two new ship visual sets. The expansion adds new NASA-inspired and industrial hard sci-fi spacecraft aesthetics, allowing Earth's space fleets to take on alien forces across the Solar System with a fresh visual style. Dark Skies keeps those systems intact and gives them two new historical starting points.

Dark Skies is worth buying if you already love Terra Invicta and want radically different starting conditions, though it is not a major mechanical expansion. The DLC is designed for players seeking fresh campaign contexts within the established grand strategy framework—those new to Terra Invicta should begin with the base game. Strategy enthusiasts who enjoy deep geopolitical simulation, alternate history scenarios, and long-form campaigns will find substantial replay value in these two distinct starting points.
