Sanctum: Map Pack 1 expands the tower defense FPS experience with four challenging new maps: Aftermath, Aftershock, Cavern, and Slums. Each map presents distinct environments and strategic layouts that test your ability to construct defensive mazes while engaging in first-person combat.

The core gameplay loop remains intact: enter the building phase to construct towers and walls, then transition to the extermination phase where waves of alien creatures attempt to breach your defenses. You must balance tower placement with direct firearm engagement, eliminating threats before they reach the core. The maps in this pack vary significantly in design philosophy—from sprawling open arenas to tightly constrained passages—forcing players to adapt their strategies and tower loadouts.

These four maps integrate seamlessly with Sanctum's hybrid mechanics, where tower defense strategy meets real-time FPS action. The Slums map, built atop the ruins of an original settlement, offers narrative context within the game's sci-fi setting. Each environment demands different tactical approaches, whether you favor aggressive tower clustering or distributed defensive positions.

Map Pack 1 is essential for players seeking extended replayability and strategic variety. The additional maps provide fresh challenges for both single-player campaigns and cooperative multiplayer sessions, where resource management and coordinated tower placement become critical. This DLC appeals to tower defense enthusiasts who want more content beyond the base game's six maps, as well as FPS players who appreciate the blend of real-time shooting with strategic planning.
