River City Super Sports Challenge: All Stars Special brings the chaos of the Kunio-kun franchise to the athletic arena. Reiho High School's student council president arranges an athletes meet, while Kunio and his friends prepare at rival Nekketsu High School. This isn't a traditional sports competition—it's a free-for-all where victory goes to those willing to bend the rules.

The core objective is simple: be the number one competitor across four events. However, players can interfere with others by hitting and kicking in all events. Wooden swords, dumbbells, and even bombs are available as weapons, transforming each competition into a chaotic brawl. The gameplay loop alternates between competing in distinct athletic challenges—from cross-country races to obstacle courses—while simultaneously sabotaging opponents.

The game supports 1-4 players in single-player and multiplayer modes, with both competitive and cooperative options. Character and stage creation modes allow players to build original teams for the sports challenge. The pixel-art presentation and retro aesthetic ground the experience in classic arcade sensibilities, while the absurdist premise—mixing legitimate athletics with weapons and environmental hazards—sets it apart from conventional sports titles.

River City Super Sports Challenge targets fans of the Kunio-kun series and players seeking competitive local multiplayer with a comedic edge. The game rewards both athletic skill and creative sabotage, making it accessible to casual players while offering depth for those seeking to master the mechanics and character roster.
