Gaelic Football Laochra is the first new Gaelic football video game in nearly 20 years, developed by Belfast-based studio Buck Eejit Games. The game brings the sport's distinctive fast-paced action to modern platforms, capturing the intensity of county rivalries and championship competition. The game features responsive skill-based gameplay with a unique AI system that creates intelligent player movement, allowing players to experience the tactical and physical demands of the sport.

The core gameplay loop centers on match-based competition across multiple modes. Players can take control in Career Mode, guiding their chosen team through the seasons, managing their squad, developing talent, and pushing for glory. Local two-player is fully supported from day one, and online play is on the roadmap, providing immediate multiplayer options for competitive play.

Key mechanical innovations distinguish this title from traditional sports simulations. The developers allow around six steps before requiring a bounce or solo, depending on the situation, balancing authentic sport rules with engaging gameplay. The game incorporates the newly introduced ruleset of Gaelic football, ensuring current competitive standards are reflected. An extensive creation suite allows players to design their own players, kits, and teams, enabling them to build entirely new clubs or recreate their local side.

Built by Irish developers with a genuine passion for the sport, it captures the flow of the game through high fielding, long-range scores, goalmouth drama, heavy tackles and the constant battle for possession across the pitch. The game targets both longtime GAA enthusiasts and sports simulation fans seeking an authentic representation of Irish football, offering depth for competitive players while remaining accessible to newcomers to the sport.
