Beastro invites you to the artisan village of Palo Pori, a warm and welcoming setting that feels equal parts fantasy adventure and cosy comfort food. The colourful streets, friendly townsfolk, and bustling restaurant create an immediately inviting atmosphere. You play as Panko, a talented young chef whose life changes dramatically when his mentor mysteriously disappears. What begins as keeping a local restaurant afloat gradually unfolds into something much larger, as darkness spreads beyond the village walls and monsters threaten the surrounding lands.

The core gameplay loop centers on gathering ingredients and turning them into meals. Your days are spent tending crops, caring for animals, foraging for rare herbs, and expanding your restaurant's resources. These activities are executed with enough charm to remain engaging, and every harvest serves a purpose—each carrot, herb, spice, or fruit becomes part of a larger strategy. Preparing dishes unfolds as fun, carnival-like mini-games where you chop veggies, sauté skilfully, and shoot ingredients into pots.

What truly separates Beastro from other cosy simulations is how it integrates cooking directly into combat. Every ingredient has unique properties that shape your Caretaker's deck—you create decks through recipes rather than traditional card rewards. A sweet ingredient may benefit one Caretaker, while a bitter herb enhances another, and understanding each adventurer's preferences becomes crucial for improving their effectiveness in battle. Combat is turn-based deckbuilding inspired by traditional trick-taking card games, where you outplay monsters by matching their flavour magic, neutralising it with a balancing card, or adding an enhancing card to power up your moves.

The game creates a satisfying connection between seemingly unrelated activities: farming affects cooking, cooking affects deckbuilding, deckbuilding affects combat, and combat yields rare ingredients that improve farming and cooking. Visually, Beastro is a love letter to cozy indie games with expressive character art, warm palettes and tiny delightful animations, while puppet theatre sequences are whimsical and crisp. This is a game for players seeking a fresh take on the RPG genre—one that rewards curiosity, experimentation, and strategic meal planning.
