Alterity Experience casts you as Anton Cornwell, a California farmer whose ranch becomes the focal point of an extraterrestrial incursion. When strange phenomena begin invading your home from all sides, you must rely on quick thinking and a home automation system to mount a defense. This first-person adventure unfolds across a single, eventful night as you navigate the Cornwell family ranch, searching for clues and a mysterious object of unknown origin that may hold the key to your survival.

The core gameplay loop emphasizes reactive decision-making. As alien forces attempt to breach your home, you must physically move through rooms to block entry points or manipulate them remotely through the house's automation system. Speed and awareness are critical—you'll need to anticipate threats and respond before intrusions occur. The tension builds as you balance exploration with defense, creating a survival-focused experience that rewards both preparation and quick reflexes.

Exploration forms the secondary pillar of the experience. The Cornwell family ranch is filled with documents, photographs, and personal items that gradually reveal the family's history and connection to the phenomena. Examining these clues provides context for the unfolding crisis, though the narrative remains deliberately ambiguous. The 1970s and 1980s science fiction aesthetic permeates the environment, from the ranch's design to the sounds and visual details that establish atmosphere.

Alterity Experience targets players who enjoy atmospheric, story-driven adventures with puzzle and survival elements. The game appeals to those who appreciate immersive environments, mystery narratives, and the tension of defending a confined space against an unseen threat. Its relatively short playtime—typically under two hours—makes it accessible to players seeking a focused, contained experience rather than an expansive campaign.
