Active Matter is a hardcore extraction shooter set in a fractured multiverse where quantum-unstable zones warp the very laws of physics. You play as an operative trapped in a time loop, repeatedly sent back into dangerous raids to harvest active matter—a reality-bending substance that collapses timelines and distorts space. Each raid demands tactical loadout selection and careful navigation through anomalies that defy conventional combat.

The core loop combines extraction shooter mechanics with supernatural horror. Enter a quantum zone, scavenge loot and active matter, engage both AI creatures and rival operatives from parallel timelines, then extract to safety before the zone collapses. Gravity anomalies let you traverse walls and ceilings; SCP-inspired entities pose constant threats. You can pursue pure PvE raids or face PvPvE competition where other players hunt the same objectives.

What sets Active Matter apart is its physics-warping environment design. Zones don't just close in—they actively reshape themselves through active matter effects, creating dynamic vertical gameplay and unpredictable hazards. The horror atmosphere combines creature design and sound with environmental dread, making each extraction tense. Progression ties to loot gathering and character loadout customization, rewarding both tactical planning and extraction success.

The game targets players who enjoy extraction shooters like Escape from Tarkov or Cycle: Frontier but want a more surreal, anomaly-driven experience. It appeals to those who value horror atmosphere alongside competitive multiplayer, and who appreciate environmental storytelling rooted in SCP-inspired lore. Whether playing solo PvE or in squad-based PvPvE raids, the time-loop premise and reality-bending mechanics create a distinct identity within the extraction genre.
