Nine Rocks Games' hunting sim has been on the market long enough that the interesting question is no longer whether it is discounted — it almost always is — but whether there is anything left below the current line. There is a straight answer, and it comes from our own price history rather than from a store banner. Here is where the floor sits before you buy Way of the Hunter on PC.
Today's board, seller by seller
Every figure is the final price with the seller's coupon already applied, which is why the ordering here sometimes disagrees with what a store shows on its own page.
How far down it has actually gone
Across the last twelve months of our own tracking, the cheapest activation we recorded bottomed out at 2,14 €, and the floor has spent most of that stretch oscillating between roughly two and three euros. That is the whole range. A THQ Nordic release from several years ago has already done its falling; what is left is a narrow band that publisher campaigns nudge up and down by small change.
The practical consequence is unglamorous but useful: if today's entry price is within a euro of that band, waiting buys you almost nothing. Sitting on the purchase for weeks to save the price of a coffee is a bad trade, and the deep-discount headlines you see on franchise sale weeks are usually landing inside the same band, not below it.
Standard or Elite: what separates the two
The board carries both. The Standard is the base game on its own; the Elite gathers the base game together with the downloadable content released afterwards, according to what each seller states on the listing. The step between them is small in absolute terms but large in percentage, which is exactly the situation where people overpay by reflex.
| Edition | What is inside | Entry price now |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | The base game and its original hunting grounds. | € (with coupon AUGGOC10) |
| Elite Ed. | The base game bundled with the add-on content, as described by each seller. | € (with coupon Gocdkeys12) |
Buy the Standard first if you are unsure whether the loop will hold you. At this price level you can add the extra content later without having wasted anything meaningful.
Region tags, and why a Steam Gift is not the same purchase
Most of the cheap listings are ordinary activations, split between Global and Europe tags — and a European code bought from outside Europe can simply refuse to redeem. Alongside them sit Steam Gift listings, which are genuine transfers sent from another account but depend on the sender and usually carry a region of their own. When two offers are separated by pennies, the label is often the entire explanation. The cheapest plain activation right now is at Kinguin.
Is a game with a modest score worth it at this price?
Be honest about what you are buying. Critics left it at 64 on OpenCritic across 35 reviews, with only 37% recommending it — a divisive reception, and the reason the price fell as fast as it did. What reviewers did not dispute is the shooting model and the terrain: it is a slow, deliberate simulator, and the people who bounce off it are usually the ones expecting a shooter. At the bottom of that two-to-three euro band, the question stops being «is it a great game» and becomes «is one good evening in the woods worth this much», which is a much easier yes.
When to press buy
If the entry price in the table is inside the band described above, this is as good as the timing gets — there is no meaningful drop left to wait for. Pick the edition you actually want, check the region tag, and buy Way of the Hunter key from the seller that wins your line.
