Four players, four copies, €7.40 (no fees) in total. That's what Warhammer: Vermintide 2 costs a full group this morning if everyone takes a Steam key from YUPLAY at €1.85 (no fees). On Steam, one copy is €27.99 (no fees), so your whole squad pays around a quarter of what a single player pays there. Four Steam copies would come to €111.96 (no fees).
This is Fatshark's four-player co-op game, out on PC since March about eight years ago. It has an 82 on Metacritic, and 84% of its 91,200 Steam reviews are positive.
Which stores are cheapest this morning
We counted more than 20 Steam key offers across 14 stores, leaving out Steam itself. These are the five lowest once fees are added, and only the first stays under €2:
- YUPLAY: €1.85 (no fees), Steam key.
- HRKGame: €1.60 with the coupon Gocdkeys12 (€2.00 with fees), Steam key.
- Instant Gaming: €2.09 (no fees), Steam key.
- Gamivo: €1.38 with the coupon GCDKGamivo (€2.18 with fees), Steam key.
- Cdkeys Com: €2.19 (no fees), Steam key.
Gamivo is the one to watch. It looks like the bargain of the bunch right up to checkout, then ends up dearer than three of the others.
Before you order for the whole group
Stick to a store with no fees. With YUPLAY the sum is simply €7.40 (no fees), and with Instant Gaming it's €8.36 (no fees). Where a store does charge fees, they can work out differently when you buy several copies, so multiplying its single-copy total by four may not give you the real figure.
Two things to check on the offer itself: that four units are still available, and which region the key is for, because we can't confirm that YUPLAY's is global. Then just pass each code to your friend, who activates it on their own Steam account. It's a normal key and not a Steam gift.
You'll also come across a Steam account on G2A at €7.95 (€8.24 with fees), sold as the Collector's Edition. That gets you the login to an account that belongs to someone else, so the game never lands in your library and you lose it if the seller takes the account back. We'd stick with keys. If you do want the Collector's Edition, YUPLAY has it as a Steam key for €2.74 (no fees); check the offer to see what's included.
Patch 6.13.0 and the careers you pay for separately
Patch 6.13.0 added the Geheimnisnacht event, with the Skull of Blosphoros ritual, five weapon illusions, double XP for everyone and night versions of some maps. The official announcement says it runs until today, 1 November, so don't buy the game just for that.
Don't expect that key to cover everything either. Paid careers such as Sister of the Thorn and Grail Knight are DLC, sold separately.
Is it worth waiting for a lower price?
Probably not. Monthly lows over the last seven months have stayed between €1.40 (11 October) and €2.01, before fees and mixing formats. So the game has been this cheap for a while, and some days you'd save a few cents more.
All the offers to buy Warhammer: Vermintide 2 key are on the game page, and you can set a price alert there if you're hoping to catch one of those days.
Prices checked on the morning of 1 November.
