The PS5 has one racing game that only exists on PlayStation, Gran Turismo 7, and since last year it also has Forza Horizon, which used to be an Xbox thing. Around those two there's a bit of everything: the official F1 and rally games, a GT3 simulator that people play with a wheel and a pedal set, motorbikes, toy cars and a demolition derby.
To pick them we went through the 88 PS5 games in our catalogue that Steam players tag as racing and that had offers in stock this morning. We dropped management games like F1 Manager, truck, bus and train simulators, cycling, monster trucks, packs and DLC, and older editions of the same series (F1 22, 23 and 24, earlier MotoGP and RIDE games). Fifteen are left. The Steam score is the one for the PC version, as a share of positive reviews and a review count; Gran Turismo 7 isn't on Steam, and for Forza Horizon 5 and DIRT 5 our PC pages have no review data, so they go without a score.
One thing you'll notice quickly: on PS5, key resellers barely stock PSN keys for these games. For most of them the cheapest key is the PlayStation Store's own price, which we take from the Spanish store, while the cheap offers are accounts. We explain what an account is near the end. Each price is shown without fees, with the coupon if there is one, and then what you pay with the store's payment fee in brackets.
Gran Turismo 7 and the two Forza Horizon games
Gran Turismo 7 is Polyphony Digital's driving simulator and the reason a lot of people buy a wheel for their PS5. The Café menus take you through the history of each brand while you collect cars, and most modes need an internet connection. We already have a guide to buying Gran Turismo 7 on PS5, so just the prices: it's the only big game on the list with a reseller key, a US PSN key at Eneba for €29.52 (€32.61 with fees) with Gocdkeys10. That's around 10% above its usual price (the median is €26.80 before fees), against €79.99 at the PlayStation Store. GamesPSN has an account for €9.09 (no fees).
Forza Horizon 6 moves the festival to Japan. On PC, 80% of 91,901 Steam reviews are positive. There are no reseller keys yet: the PlayStation Store charges €69.99 (no fees), and the cheapest account is at GamesPSN for €33.15 (no fees). Editions and what each one includes are in our post on Forza Horizon 6 prices and editions.
Forza Horizon 5 is the one set in Mexico, with jungle, desert, beaches and a volcano, and it arrived on PS5 last year after years as an Xbox and PC game. It's an open world where you drive wherever you like and the races pop up as you go. If you don't mind skipping the newest one, it's the cheaper way into the series: the PSN key costs €69.99 (no fees) at the PlayStation Store and the GamesPSN account €18.62 (no fees).
F1, rally and GT3: the more serious end
F1 25 is Codemasters' official Formula 1 game, with the season's drivers, teams and calendar, career mode and the Braking Point story. On Steam, 87% of 26,718 reviews are positive. The key is expensive: €79.99 (no fees) at the PlayStation Store and no reseller has one in stock. GamesPSN sells an account for €13.17 (no fees). If you want the key and can wait, set a price alert for F1 25 and we'll email you when it drops.
EA Sports WRC, also by Codemasters and listed on our site as EA Sports WRC 24, is the official World Rally Championship game, with a builder mode for designing your own rally car. Steam players are split: 61% of 10,593 reviews are positive. PSN key at the PlayStation Store for €49.99 (no fees), or a Key4Games account for €17.83 (€18.89 with fees) with GOCDKEYS15.
Assetto Corsa Competizione, from Kunos Simulazioni, is a GT3 simulator built around the official GT World Challenge championship. It's the most demanding game here and plays best with a wheel. It also has the best score on the list, along with Sonic: 92% of 34,463 Steam reviews are positive. The PlayStation Store asks €39.99 (no fees); at Key4Games the account costs €3.55 (€3.96 with fees) with GOCDKEYS15.
DIRT 5 is Codemasters' arcade off-road racer: mud, snow and ice, with up to four players in split screen. If you'd rather play together on the sofa than race each other, have a look at our local co-op games for PS5. No Steam score on our page. The key is €69.99 (no fees) at the PlayStation Store, and the Key4Games account €4.48 (€4.93 with fees) with GOCDKEYS15.
Street racing and crashes: Need for Speed, The Crew, Wreckfest and Hot Wheels
Need for Speed Unbound is Criterion's street racer, set in Lakeshore, with police chases and cartoon smoke and graffiti effects over realistic cars. Steam reviews are Mixed, 61% positive out of 50,467. We have no PSN key or PlayStation Store price for it this morning, only accounts: Key4Games at €3.70 (€4.12 with fees) with GOCDKEYS15, the lowest price we've recorded for an account of this game.
The Crew Motorfest puts Ubisoft's series on the island of O'ahu, Hawaii, with themed playlists of events and cars, boats and planes. 78% of 25,273 Steam reviews are positive. The PlayStation Store charges €69.99 (no fees); the GamesPSN account is €6.20 (no fees).
Wreckfest, from Bugbear, is about crashing: banger races and demolition derbies where cars crumple bit by bit. It's the cheapest real key on the list, €11.99 (no fees) at the PlayStation Store, and 87% of 31,587 Steam reviews are positive. Key4Games has an account for €4.98 (€5.46 with fees) with GOCDKEYS15, but for about six and a half euros more the key is yours. All the offers are on the page to buy Wreckfest key. There's also a Wreckfest 2, which we left out so the same series doesn't appear twice.
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged, by Milestone, builds its orange tracks across oversized real-world settings, adds motorbikes and ATVs to the cars, and keeps the track editor. 76% of 985 Steam reviews are positive. Kinguin has a US PSN key for €17.10 (€18.81 with fees) with NOVGOC10, about its usual price, and less than half of the €39.99 it costs at the PlayStation Store. The GamesPSN account costs €1.19 (no fees).
On two wheels: MotoGP 25 and RIDE 5
MotoGP 25 is Milestone's official championship game, with Moto2 and Moto3 as well and a career where you manage your rider. 75% of 620 Steam reviews are positive. PSN key at the PlayStation Store for €49.99 (no fees), or a GamesPSN account for €6.87 (no fees).
RIDE 5, also by Milestone, is the road-bike counterpart: hundreds of real motorbikes, tuning and endurance races. 82% of 3,436 Steam reviews are positive. The PlayStation Store asks €59.99 (no fees), and Key4Games has an account for €4.84 (€5.31 with fees) with GOCDKEYS15.
Sonic and Star Wars, in brief
Both have their own posts on the blog, so here's just the price.
Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is Sega's kart racer with rings that send you to another world mid-race. 92% of 11,893 Steam reviews are positive. PSN key at the PlayStation Store for €39.99 (no fees); Key4Games account for €19.98 (€21.13 with fees) with GOCDKEYS15. The story of its price drop is in our post on Sonic Racing CrossWorlds and its second year.
Star Wars Galactic Racer came out last month. 86% of 7,300 Steam reviews are positive. The PlayStation Store charges €59.99 (no fees) and GamesPSN sells an account for €24.92 (no fees). Which edition to choose is covered in Star Wars Galactic Racer: Standard or Deluxe.
PSN code, PlayStation Store or someone else's account
PSN key. A code you redeem on your own PlayStation account, and the game stays there. Keys are tied to a region: the Gran Turismo 7 and Hot Wheels keys above are for US accounts, and won't redeem on a European one. Buying straight from the PlayStation Store has the same effect, the game goes to your account, but at the official price.
Account. GamesPSN, Key4Games and other stores sell you access to a PlayStation account that belongs to someone else and already has the game. You sign in on your PS5 and play, but the game isn't in your name, and if the seller takes the account back, you lose it. That's why they're so cheap. We explain how they're set up in how to activate a PS5 account with a game.
