Quick verdict

Sackboy looks best on PC thanks to ray tracing, but it is a PS4 game ported everywhere.

Best graphics experience PC the only one with ray-traced shadows, reflections and ambient occlusion
Best console experience PS5 1800p at 60fps, exclusive effects and the fastest loading
Best for the money PS4 Pro 1080p at 60fps with the same content as PS5

What PC brings

It is the only version with ray tracing, covering shadows, reflections and ambient occlusion, though the shadows only affect certain elements. It also adds DLSS 2.4, frame generation and 120 FPS. The analyst warns that the ray tracing is tremendously demanding and not that decisive to look at.

PS5 still leads on console

It runs at 3200x1800 and 60fps, adds effects of its own such as grass and leaves reacting to the character's steps, and keeps the fastest loading times of the three versions, PC included.

PS4 and PS4 Pro are not far behind

The game started life on PS4 and it shows: apart from resolution and those effects, everything else is identical. PS4 runs at 900p and PS4 Pro at 1080p, both at 60fps.

The blur the game applies costs it sharpness on every version, and it shows most on PS5.

Frequently asked questions about Sackboy a Big Adventure

Which platform does Sackboy look best on?

PC, because it is the only one with ray tracing: shadows, reflections and ambient occlusion. Testing was done at 3840x2160 with max settings. That said, the analyst finds the ray tracing extremely expensive for what it shows on screen.

What is the difference between PS4, PS4 Pro and PS5?

Almost purely resolution: 900p on PS4, 1080p on PS4 Pro and 1800p on PS5, all three at 60fps. PS5 also adds grass and leaves that react to the character's steps.

Is the PC version any good?

Yes, after the patches. They added enhanced ray tracing and 120fps, and NX Gamer's review goes over whether they fixed the DX12 shader compilation stutter it shipped with. On the Very high preset we measured 28 GPUs: an RTX 4090 delivers 375-424 FPS and an RTX 3080 210-242.

What does PC lose against PS5?

Loading times: PS5 still loads faster. And per PCGamingWiki the PC version has no HDR and no adjustable field of view, though it does support ultrawide, DLSS 2.4 and frame generation.

Does the game look blurry?

A little. It applies a blur effect that costs it sharpness, and the analysis points out that it is most noticeable on PS5.
