Dressmaker came out on Steam on 21 September and has piled up more than 12,000 reviews in three weeks. 11,866 of 12,108 recommend it, 98%, which earns it the "Overwhelmingly Positive" label. Nobody saw that coming from a sewing game by a small studio. Since 8 October there has also been talk of a sale "of up to 15%". Steam isn't showing it this morning: the game costs €15.47 (no fees), its full price.
A sewing sim from the publisher of Broforce
Cozy Lives developed it and Free Lives publishes it, the same people behind Broforce and Terra Nil. Customers bring you their orders, you pick the fabric, lay out and cut the pattern, then sew the dress on the machine and finish it with trims.
Steam has only discounted it once
According to our records, Steam sold it for €13.92 (no fees) from 22 to 28 September, a 10% launch discount. On the 29th it went back to €15.47 and has stayed there. Go looking for that 15% on the store page today and you won't find it.
Where is it cheapest this morning?
For a Steam Key, at Humble Bundle: €14.99 (no fees), 48 cents below Steam. Not much of a saving, but it's a regular key you redeem on your own account. Fanatical charges the same as Steam, €15.47 (no fees).
| Format | Store | Price | With fees |
|---|---|---|---|
| Steam Key | Humble Bundle | €14.99 | €14.99 (no fees) |
| Steam Key | Steam | €15.47 | €15.47 (no fees) |
| Steam Gift (Europe) | K4G | €11.83 (GCDK14DEAL) | €13.24 |
| Steam Account | Gamivo | €6.97 (GCDKGamivo) | €8.20 |
| Steam Account | Driffle | €8.33 (GOCDKEYS10) | €9.03 |
The European gift saves about €2
K4G has a Steam Gift for €11.83 with coupon GCDK14DEAL (€13.24 with fees). With a gift there's no code to type in: the seller sends the game to your Steam account as a present. This one is for the Europe region, so it's meant for European accounts. It works out €1.75 cheaper than Humble and €2.23 cheaper than Steam.
The €8 offers are accounts
Everything under €10 is a Steam Account, not a key. Gamivo has one for €6.97 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€8.20 with fees), Driffle for €8.33 with GOCDKEYS10 (€9.03 with fees). With an account the game never reaches your library. You get the login for a separate Steam account that owns it, and you play from that one.
What we'd buy
If you want it now, Humble's key, or the gift if you don't mind receiving it that way and want the extra €2. Happy to wait for a proper Steam sale? Set a price alert and we'll email you when it drops. Every store and format, fees included, is on the page to buy Dressmaker key.
