DragonSword Awakening: which formats exist and which actually lands in your account

Standard, Steam Gift or account access: on DragonSword Awakening almost half the listing does not put the game in your library. How to tell them apart and how each is activated.

DragonSword: Awakening is a recent release, and on recent games the offer list tends to be messier than usual: alongside the codes there are formats that do not deliver the same thing and which, being cheaper, climb to the top. Here is what is there and how to tell them apart.

Which formats are in circulation?

FormatWhat you getWhere the game ends up
StandardA code you redeem yourselfIn your account, permanently
Steam GiftA Steam gift sent by the sellerIn your account, once accepted
Account accessCredentials for somebody else's accountNot in your account

Almost half of what you will see listed falls into one of those last two rows, so sorting by price and buying the first line means, quite probably, not buying the game.

How do you activate a standard code?

  1. Open Steam with your usual account.
  2. Games menu → Activate a Product on Steam.
  3. Paste the full code, hyphens included.
  4. Wait for it to appear in your library and download.

If the wizard says the code is not valid in your territory, you bought another region. Always check the region before paying.

What is wrong with account access?

You buy nothing of your own. You play from someone else's profile: no friends of yours, no achievements of yours, and access lasts only as long as that account keeps its password. On a freshly released game where you will sink hours of progress, it is the worst place to put them.

Buy now or wait?

On recent releases, key shops compete hardest in the weeks after launch, once stock spreads across more sellers. If day-one access is not urgent, waiting a little usually beats buying in the heat of the moment.

With the format settled, only today's price is left. You can buy DragonSword Awakening key comparing every shop at once, with the format label visible on each offer.
