Thousand Hells: The Underworld Heists is a tactical narrative game where your decisions shape both the story and your party's fate. You assemble a team of heroes with distinct skills and personalities, then descend into various mythological underworlds to complete contracts for a mysterious figure known as the Ambassador. Each mission presents a different hell—inspired by proto-Indo-European, Norse, and Mesopotamian mythology alongside the surreal imagery of Hieronymus Bosch—with its own visual identity, inhabitants, and challenges.

The core gameplay loop revolves around tactical narrative encounters. Rather than traditional combat, you navigate over 280 dynamic encounters by leveraging your party's unique abilities. Send your bard to calm bandits, hire a demonologist to communicate with possessed objects, or take calculated risks for greater rewards. Your choices determine whether you advance with body and mind intact, suffer injuries, or face worse consequences. Success depends on matching your team's skills to the situation at hand.

Replayability is central to the design. Each playthrough generates a new unique quest or lets you retry failed missions with a different roster of heroes. Your party composition changes every run, and team dynamics matter—not everyone gets along. The game features an anthology of narratives written by eight different writers, supplemented by hundreds of hand-painted illustrations across distinct underworld settings. Missions range from rescuing a pirate to robbing a demonic bank to saving your city from an infernal plague of insects.

Developed by A Sharp, the studio behind King of Dragon Pass and Six Ages, Thousand Hells brings the same systemic storytelling approach to a fresh fantasy world. The game blends mythology with surrealism in a storybook experience where your choices carry weight and consequences ripple through your team. This is a narrative-driven strategy game for players who value meaningful decisions, deep replayability, and stories that change based on who you recruit and how you approach each trial.
