The Residual is a short, free atmospheric narrative platformer developed by Dreamscape Games. You awaken in a broken, dreamlike world with no memory of who you are or how you arrived. An unknown operator claims to guide you toward escape, yet refuses to explain the nature of this strange place. As you navigate fragmented levels connected by portals, memories gradually resurface—glimpses of loneliness, a mysterious woman, and a company called Dreamscape. The game explores themes of memory, identity, and the uncertain boundary between reality and dream. Gameplay focuses on minimalist 2D platforming combined with environmental storytelling told through sparse text and atmospheric design. Two distinct narrative voices—your own internal thoughts and the cryptic operator—shape your understanding of events. The experience is intentionally brief, playable in approximately 20-30 minutes, and concludes with a meaningful choice that leaves the story deliberately unresolved. The Residual appeals to players seeking intimate, introspective narratives over action-driven gameplay, offering a contemplative experience that lingers after the credits roll.
