Rina's Undercover Train Operation is a roguelike simulation where you take on the role of Rina, a special investigator with psychic powers tasked with combating rising criminal activity aboard trains. The game combines tactical turn-based combat with roguelike progression mechanics, creating a challenging experience where each mission presents new obstacles and opportunities for growth.

The core gameplay loop revolves around completing train missions where you face procedurally varied encounters and unique boss opponents. Between runs, you earn experience and skill points that unlock permanent upgrades, allowing you to gradually strengthen Rina's abilities even after defeats. This progression system ensures that each failed run contributes meaningfully to your long-term advancement, a hallmark of well-designed roguelikes.

Combat emphasizes tactical decision-making through a skill combination system. You choose which abilities to develop as you level up during missions, and must time your active skills carefully—even during enemy turns—to maximize effectiveness. Random events at each train station add unpredictability, either aiding your mission or creating complications that demand strategic adaptation. Each mission culminates in a boss fight requiring specific tactics tailored to that opponent's unique abilities.

Beyond combat, the game incorporates customization through outfit selection, where different costumes provide distinct bonus abilities. This adds both aesthetic personalization and mechanical variety, encouraging experimentation with different loadouts across runs. The hand-drawn 2D art style and turn-based tactical framework create an accessible yet engaging experience.

The game appeals to roguelike enthusiasts seeking fresh premises and tactical depth, as well as players who enjoy simulation elements and character progression systems. Its psychic investigator theme and train setting offer a distinctive backdrop compared to traditional dungeon-crawling roguelikes.
