Set in the historic coastal city of Kamakura during the rainy season of June, this visual novel follows an unexpected romance that begins with a blackmail letter. At the prestigious Kikyou Academy, a private girls' school where cell phones are forbidden and letter-writing remains the primary means of communication, two strangers are brought together by circumstance. Shiori Minato, an ordinary student, receives a confession from Mikoto Kurahashi, an older girl she doesn't know. What starts as a forced arrangement gradually transforms into something genuine as the two navigate their feelings and the complexities of their relationship within the school's strict environment.

As a visual novel, the experience is entirely narrative-driven with a linear story structure. There are no branching choices or multiple endings—instead, the game focuses on delivering a cohesive, bittersweet story about two girls discovering love. The gameplay consists of reading dialogue, experiencing character interactions, and absorbing the atmospheric setting through carefully crafted prose and visuals.

The game's standout feature is its artistic presentation. Luscious hand-drawn artwork brings the beautiful streets of Kamakura to life, capturing the city's famous hydrangeas and coastal scenery. The visual direction emphasizes mood and emotion, complemented by a thoughtful soundtrack that enhances the intimate, contemplative tone of the narrative.

Letters From a Rainy Day: Oceans and Lace is designed for players seeking a character-driven, story-focused experience without gameplay pressure. It appeals to fans of visual novels, LGBTQ+ narratives, and those who appreciate artistic presentation and emotional storytelling. The game's relatively compact length makes it accessible for players looking for a complete, meaningful narrative experience that can be enjoyed in a single sitting or across a few sessions.
