Grimoire of Blanks is a dark-fantasy roguelite deckbuilder that reimagines spell-casting as collaborative sentence construction. In this world, no spell arrives complete—every card presents an unfinished sentence with blank slots waiting to be filled. During combat, you collect words and strategically place them into these blanks to determine what your spells do: whether they deal direct damage, hit entire rooms, protect allies, or trigger chain reactions. The same card can become a trap, an area attack, or a reckless combo depending on the words you choose, turning each decision into a calculated risk.

The core gameplay loop revolves around building your spellbook run by run. You'll encounter new cards, words, trinkets, and events as you progress through procedurally structured encounters. Between four core mage classes with branching subclass options, the variety ensures that no two runs feel identical. Solo play emphasizes tight control and personal risk management, while cooperative modes for up to four players add layers of coordination—each mage builds their own spells while combining effects, buffs, and crowd control in real time.

What sets Grimoire of Blanks apart is its focus on authorship under pressure. Rather than drawing pre-made spells, you're constantly composing them, learning which word combinations yield powerful synergies and which risks are worth taking. The game rewards experimentation and punishes careless word placement, creating moments of both triumph and regret. The changing pool of available words and cards between runs keeps the sentence-building language fresh, encouraging players to discover new spell combinations and strategies.

This title appeals to players who enjoy strategic deckbuilders like Slay the Spire but want a more hands-on, creative approach to spell design. The cooperative elements make it ideal for group play, while the solo experience offers a focused, high-stakes puzzle. Fans of turn-based strategy, roguelikes, and games that reward clever decision-making will find substantial depth in mastering the art of spell composition.
