The four Garbage Pail Kids travel through time across distinct settings from the Stone Age and Egypt to Transylvania and Hell in pursuit of stale gum. This authentically retro game designed for actual hardware features pixelated and childlike depictions of flatulence, buttocks, vomit, mucus, and more.

Each of the four characters has unique abilities that fundamentally change the gameplay: Mad Mike plays like a 2D sword game, Leaky Lindsay turns the game into a gun-based platformer as she fires snot projectiles, and Patty Putty creates a Mario-like hop 'n bop style experience. The levels, while linear, have exploration elements that prevent the game from feeling like a clone.

The game integrates a trading and collecting card system where you pick up cards from knocked-over trash cans and can swap them with NPCs scattered throughout the levels, with some helping you by resurrecting characters or clearing the screen. The game is very short, clocking in at around two hours, but the levels are diverse and interesting with solid sprite work, a strong soundtrack, and a well-stocked buffet of bosses to take on.
