In the year 41 without the sun, humanity survives in Calvaris, a sprawling city built within the skeletal remains of a colossal sea creature. The lighthouses that dot this sunless world burn memories to generate light—a precious but costly resource. You take on the role of Zero Solace, a lighthouse mechanic with a giant wrench and an unbreakable word, as you navigate a world where keeping the lights on demands personal sacrifice.

Aurora Requiem blends late-1990s JRPG aesthetics with modern design sensibilities. Pre-rendered backgrounds evoke the visual style of classic PlayStation-era RPGs, while the time-gauge battle system combines Active and Wait modes for strategic depth. Assemble a party of nine heroes, each with unique abilities, and customize their powers using a flexible Orb system that lets you tailor your approach to any challenge.

The game's core mechanic—burning memories for light—extends beyond mere atmosphere into gameplay and narrative. Every decision carries weight as you explore Calvaris, uncover its mysteries, and face time-gauge battles that reward tactical thinking and positioning. The three-disc structure promises substantial content with a story that interweaves personal stakes with the city's larger struggle for survival.

Aurora Requiem targets players who cherish the golden age of JRPGs but seek something fresh. The combination of pre-rendered visuals, memory-burning mechanics, and a protagonist bound by his word creates a distinctive identity. This is a game for those who value atmospheric world-building, strategic turn-based combat, and narratives where every action has consequence. The sunless setting and memory-based magic system offer thematic depth that elevates it beyond nostalgic homage.
