Quick verdict

The best version of Stellar Blade is the PC one, and on console there is only one option: PS5.

Best graphics experience PC better shadows and textures than PS5 Pro's Max mode
Best console experience PS5 1440p at a constant 60 fps in performance mode
Best performance for the money PC with multi frame generation, an RTX 5060 Ti clears 150 fps
Best on the go ROG Xbox Ally X on medium it lands between PS5 and the Steam Deck

Why PC wins

PC improves shadows and environment texture resolution over the PS5 Pro Max mode, and the optimisation is among the best the analyst has seen in a long time. Our own numbers back it: an RTX 5090 hits 212-249 FPS at 1080p on Very high, across the 31 cards we measured on this game. It is also one of the best users of multi frame generation: with it, an RTX 5060 Ti clears 150 FPS maxed out.

The three PS5 modes

PS5 gives you three modes, and the settings barely move between them: only anisotropic filtering and the LOD of some distant textures. Performance runs 1440p at a constant 60 FPS, balanced renders at 1440p and outputs 4K through TAAU, and resolution reaches 2160p by dropping to 30 FPS. In a game this fast, 30 FPS is not a trade worth making.

Prices and formats

On price, the PC key is 31.53 € and the PS5 key 36.39 €. The PS5 disc costs 44.01 €. Account offers are cheaper — 16.77 € on PS5 and 21.19 € on PC — but they are not a purchase in your name.

On PS5 chromatic aberration cannot be turned off, and the analyst finds it overdone.

Stellar Blade on PC versus PS5 Pro: graphics comparison

  • The comparison uses the PS5 Pro Max mode as its reference.
  • PC improves some settings over PS5 Pro, mainly shadows and the resolution of environment textures.
  • He calls the PC optimisation one of the best he has seen in a long time.
  • It is one of the games that make the best use of multi frame generation on the RTX 50 series.
  • With that on, an RTX 5060 Ti clears 150 FPS with settings maxed out.

Stellar Blade on PS5: the three display modes compared

  • The figures come from the PS5 demo, which already shipped with all three display modes.
  • Performance mode runs at 1440p and a constant 60 FPS.
  • Balanced renders at 1440p and outputs 4K through TAAU; it takes the odd drop but normally holds 60 FPS.
  • Resolution mode reaches 2160p in exchange for capping the frame rate at 30 FPS.
  • Settings barely change between modes: only anisotropic filtering and the LOD of some distant textures. Shadows, draw distance, ambient occlusion and post-processing stay put.
  • He misses an option to turn off chromatic aberration, which he finds overdone.
  • His pick is performance or balanced: in a game this fast 30 FPS is not an option, and the resolution gain does not pay for it.

Stellar Blade on ROG Xbox Ally X, Steam Deck and PS5: graphics comparison

  • The ROG Xbox Ally X runs on medium settings and the Steam Deck on its recommended configuration, equivalent to low.
  • The Ally X lands halfway between PS5 and Steam Deck, and this time it does sit slightly below PS5 on medium settings.
  • To get close to the PS5 image you have to drop resolution and push the settings to high.
  • He advises against frame generation below 40 natively rendered FPS.

Frequently asked questions about Stellar Blade

Which platform does Stellar Blade look best on?

PC. It improves shadows and environment texture resolution over the PS5 Pro Max mode, and it lets you set everything yourself. On console, PS5 is the only version.

How many graphics modes does it have on PS5?

Three: performance, balanced and resolution. Performance runs 1440p at a constant 60 FPS, balanced renders at 1440p and outputs 4K through TAAU, and resolution reaches 2160p with the frame rate capped at 30 FPS.

Which PS5 mode should I pick?

Performance or balanced. The analysis rules out resolution mode: in a game this fast, 30 FPS is not an option and the resolution gain is not that large.

Do the settings change much between modes?

Barely. Only anisotropic filtering and the LOD of some distant textures move. Shadow resolution, draw distance, ambient occlusion and post-processing stay the same across all three modes.

What graphics card do I need on PC?

We measured 31 cards on this game at 1080p on Very high. The RTX 5090 sits between 212 and 249 FPS, with the RTX 4090 and RTX 5080 matching it. On the requirements page you can pick yours and see the exact figure.

Is frame generation worth using?

Here, yes. The analysis singles it out as one of the best users of multi frame generation on the RTX 50 series: with it, an RTX 5060 Ti clears 150 FPS with settings maxed out.

Does it have ray tracing?

No. PCGamingWiki records no ray tracing on the PC version, and no figure is published for PS5. HDR is there on PC.

Which upscalers does the PC version support?

DLSS 4 and FSR 3.1, with frame generation through DLSS MFG and FSR FG. On PS5, balanced mode uses TAAU to output 4K from 1440p.

Can it run on a handheld PC?

Yes. The ROG Xbox Ally X plays it on medium settings, slightly below PS5, and the Steam Deck needs its recommended configuration, equivalent to low. To get close to the PS5 image, drop the resolution and push settings to high.

Which one is cheapest?

The cheapest key is on PC, at 31.53 €. On PS5 the key goes to 36.39 € and the disc sits at 44.01 €. Watch out for account offers — 16.77 € on PS5 and 21.19 € on PC — because they are not a purchase in your name.
