Quick verdict

The best version of Star Wars Outlaws is the PC one, and on console Xbox Series X edges ahead.

Best graphics experience PC 4K, always-on ray tracing, DLSS 4 and frame generation
Best console experience Xbox Series X higher average resolution than PS5 with the same three modes
Best for the money PS5 the same three modes as Series X, 60 FPS one included

Why PC wins

PC brings together 4K, HDR, 120 FPS, ultrawide, an adjustable field of view and always-on ray tracing, plus upscaling through TAAU, DLSS 4, FSR 3.0 and XeSS 1.3 and frame generation from three technologies. On the Ultra preset an RTX 4080 SUPER returns 121-134 FPS in our measurements.

On console

PS5 and Series X share the same three modes: quality at 30 FPS, performance at 60 and a Favour Quality mode at 40 FPS reserved for 120 Hz screens. Series X holds a higher average resolution than PS5, and that is the only thing separating them.

Series S

Series S is left with a single 30 FPS mode and minor cutbacks, mostly in global illumination. On all three consoles you can switch the aspect ratio between 16:9 and 21:9.

On PC, turn the Nvidia Direct Lighting option off: Ubisoft confirmed it was still fixing its problems.

Star Wars Outlaws on PS5, Xbox Series and PC: graphics comparison

  • PS5 and Xbox Series X offer three display modes; Series S gets a single one, at 30 FPS.
  • Quality mode prioritises resolution and some effects at 30 FPS; performance mode chases 60 at the cost of resolution and some settings.
  • The most visible difference between the two modes is draw distance, and even then the gap between them is small.
  • The Favour Quality mode is exclusive to 120 Hz screens: it delivers 40 FPS at a lower resolution than quality mode.
  • Xbox Series X holds a higher average resolution than PS5.
  • Series S has minor cutbacks, most noticeable in global illumination.
  • Every version lets you switch the aspect ratio between 16:9 and 21:9 through the cinematic mode.
  • On PC, Ubisoft confirmed it was still fixing the issues caused by the Nvidia Direct Lighting option and recommends turning it off for now.

Star Wars Outlaws on Switch 2 against PS5 and Xbox Series S

  • The conversion shows how adaptable the Snowdrop engine is and the work Massive Entertainment put in.
  • The clearest cutbacks are in NPC density, level of detail in some areas and certain textures.
  • Taken as a whole, the visual differences are surprisingly few.
  • Its stable 30 FPS occasionally beats the Xbox Series S version on stability.
  • Loading times are nearly twice as long as on Series S.
