On PS5, play Rise of the Ronin in performance mode: the other two stutter constantly.
Performance mode runs at dynamic 1080p, averaging around 1044p, and reaches up to 60 FPS. It is the only one free of the constant stuttering that affects quality and ray tracing, and in a game built on combat that matters more than resolution.
Quality mode raises resolution, shadows, anisotropic filtering and some post-processing, running at dynamic 1440p with 1260p as the common figure. Ray tracing mode only touches global illumination on a few elements and drops the average resolution below performance mode on top of that.
It arrived almost a year after PS5 and there is no technical analysis of it: no resolutions, no modes, no measured performance. What it does have, by definition, is free settings instead of three fixed modes.
⚠ Temporal reconstruction rescues the image, but the stuttering in quality and ray tracing modes cannot be settings-tuned away.

Resolution, modes and FPS come from the video analyses above. The rest is published by each platform's official store and by the game's technical sheet on PC. Where nobody publishes the figure we put a dash, not a guess.
| Feature | PC | PS5 |
|---|---|---|
| Graphics modes | Free settings | Three: performance, quality and ray tracing |
| What quality mode raises | — | Resolution, shadows, anisotropic filtering and some post-processing effects |
| Resolution in quality mode | Unlocked | Dynamic 1440p, commonly sitting at 1260p |
| Resolution in performance mode | Unlocked | Dynamic 1080p, averaging around 1044p |
| FPS in performance mode | Unlocked | Up to 60 |
| Ray tracing | — | Yes, on global illumination, but only on a few elements |
| Resolution in ray tracing mode | — | Slightly below performance mode |
| Temporal reconstruction | — | Yes, and it improves image quality a great deal |
| VRR | — | Yes, but it never goes past 60 FPS |
| Stuttering | — | Constant in quality and ray tracing modes |
Xbox is the Series X column unless Series S is stated. Resolution, modes, FPS, VRR and download size come from the videos; HDR, ray tracing and PC features from the technical sheet and the official Xbox catalogue.
Performance. It is the only one without constant stuttering and the only one that reaches 60 FPS, which you feel during combat. Quality and ray tracing modes both suffer constant stuttering problems.
Quality mode uses dynamic 1440p with 1260p as the common resolution. Performance runs at dynamic 1080p averaging around 1044p. Ray tracing mode drops even below performance.
Not really. It only improves global illumination on a handful of elements, to the point of being anecdotal, and it lowers the average resolution while carrying the same stuttering as quality mode.
Yes, though the frame rate never goes above 60 FPS. Given how unstable the game is, the sensible pairing is VRR plus performance mode.
It arrived almost a year after PS5 and there is no technical analysis of it, so we cannot give resolutions or performance figures. What it does offer is free settings instead of the console's three fixed modes.
Not especially. The analysis puts it down to Team Ninja's usual standard, which is not the best, and that is why only one of the three modes ends up recommended.
