Quick verdict

PS5 and Xbox Series X are the same NBA 2K22; Series S is the one that loses definition.

Best graphics experience PS5 2160p and 60fps, with the same settings as Series X
Best console experience PS5 identical to Series X and slightly quicker to load
Best for the money Xbox Series X the same version as PS5 with the widest choice of offers

A tie at the top

PS5 and Series X run at 2160p and 60fps with exactly the same settings. The only split is loading, marginally quicker on PS5, and we are talking seconds: neither goes beyond four before tip-off.

Series S shows its limits

It holds 60fps, which is what matters in a basketball game, but it stops at 1080p, lowers texture resolution and drops antialiasing entirely. The court ends up noticeably more jagged.

What to expect on PC

We have no measured analysis of this version, so all we can tell you is what it supports: 4K, 120fps, ultrawide resolutions, an adjustable field of view and cloud saves.

The 30fps close-ups are not your console's fault: every version does it, and the frame rate doubles the moment play starts.

Frequently asked questions about NBA 2K22

Which console does NBA 2K22 look best on?

PS5 and Xbox Series X are level: 2160p, 60fps and the same graphics settings. Series S drops to 1080p, with lower resolution textures and no antialiasing.

Is there any difference between PS5 and Xbox Series X?

None in image quality: they are identical versions. The only measured difference is loading, slightly quicker on PS5, though neither console goes past 4 seconds.

Does it run at 60fps?

Yes, during matches, on Series S too. Close-ups drop to 30fps on every version.

Is it worth it on Xbox Series S?

If you want the 60fps gameplay, you get it. What you lose is sharpness: a 1080p ceiling, lower resolution textures and no antialiasing, which leaves more jaggies.

What does the PC version offer?

It supports 4K, 120fps, ultrawide resolutions, an adjustable field of view and cloud saves. We have no measurements or a comparative analysis of this version, so we do not pit it against the consoles.
