Quick verdict

The best version of Monster Hunter Rise is the PC one, and Switch is still the only one you take out of the house.

Best graphics experience PC more resolution, texturing and draw distance, plus effects Switch lacks
Best console experience Switch around 1344x756 docked and the only portable version measured
Best for the money Switch the port holds up and asks for no separate hardware

Why PC wins

PC raises resolution, frame rate and texturing over Switch, draws further into the distance and adds effects the handheld does not have, such as depth of field. And the settings are yours to set: the comparison was captured on an RTX 3080.

What Switch gets right

Switch renders at around 1344x756 docked and around 960x540 handheld, with the UI always drawn above that. It does not compete on image quality, but it is the only version you play on the sofa and on the train, and the analysis itself says he would still take it for portability.

What we do not know

Both analyses were made on the demo, so the finished game may differ. For the later PS4 and Xbox versions there is no published technical data we can cite, so those columns are left out.

Every figure here comes from the demo: the game was still in development when it was measured.
