Quick verdict

The PC version of Marathon is the most flexible, and on console PS5 Pro looks the best.

It runs on modest hardware

Marathon does not ask for an expensive machine. We measured 18 cards on the Ultra preset at 1080p and even a GTX 1080 Ti gives 81-96 FPS, an RX 5700 XT 72-92 and a GTX 1660 Ti 68-76. All of them above 60.

What PC lets you pick

PC also lets you choose: up to 4K, 120 FPS, ultrawide, and upscaling with DLSS 4.5, FSR 4 or XeSS 2.1.1, all three with frame generation. There is no ray tracing on any version.

On console

On console, PS5 and PS5 Pro hold a steady 60 FPS and the gaps are small. PS5 lets you switch the scaling between CMAA and FSR; PS5 Pro adds PSSR, improves ambient occlusion and renders higher-resolution reflections. The cheapest key is on PC at 19.49 €, against 23.77 € on Xbox and 64 € on PS5.

No data has been published for the Xbox version, so its column stays empty.

A steady 60, on both PS5 and PS5 Pro, according to the video analysis. The differences between the two consoles are small.
