Quick verdict

The best version of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is on PC because of path tracing, but it asks for a huge graphics card.

Best graphics experience PC path tracing lifts shadows, global illumination and reflections
Best console experience PS5 Pro a common 2160p, though its gains are anecdotal
Most resolution among the launch consoles Xbox Series X dynamic 2160p, typically 1800p-1620p, above PS5
Best on the go No handheld version analysed

Why PC wins

PC is the only version with path tracing, and it lifts shadows, global illumination and reflections above the RTGI the consoles run. The bill is steep: on the top path tracing preset only the RTX 4090 clears 60 FPS at 1080p, at 63-71. An RTX 4080 sits at 50-54, an RTX 3080 at 14-17 and an RTX 3060 at 7-8. At 4K no measured card holds 30 FPS; the 4090 lands at 27-30.

One mode on console

On console there are no modes to pick: one option, a constant 60 FPS with ray tracing, and the analysis calls it one of the best optimisation jobs it has seen. Xbox Series X keeps the higher average resolution, dynamic 2160p with 1800p-1620p typical; PS5 sits in that range but drops to 1440p, and gets slightly better global illumination in return. PS5 Pro settles at a common 2160p, with gains the analysis itself calls anecdotal.

Series S and the prices

The real step down is Series S: dynamic 1080p plus cuts to reflections, textures, shadows and post-processing, and some clipping in the ray-traced global illumination. The Switch 2 version has neither an analysis nor a spec sheet, so it stays out of the comparison.

The analysis says to leave frame generation off on PC: it still misbehaves.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on Xbox Series X, PS5, PS5 Pro and PC: graphics comparison

  • Every console has a single display mode at 60 FPS.
  • Xbox Series X runs at dynamic 2160p, usually 1800p-1620p; PS5 sits in the same range but can drop to 1440p.
  • Xbox Series X holds a higher average resolution; in exchange, PS5 improves global illumination a little.
  • PS5 Pro commonly displays at 2160p.
  • The game uses ray-traced global illumination as standard on every console.
  • PC applies path tracing, which improves shadows, global illumination and reflections.
  • On PC he recommends leaving frame generation off because it still causes problems.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series S/X: graphics comparison

  • Xbox Series S displays at dynamic 1080p, and normally renders very close to that resolution.
  • Series S cuts reflections, textures, shadows and post-processing effects.
  • Ray-traced global illumination is present on every platform, with some clipping on Series S.
  • PS5 Pro adds anecdotal gains in global illumination, ambient occlusion and contact shadows.
  • He calls the optimisation flawless on every platform.
  • He gives extra credit for holding a constant 60 FPS with ray tracing on console without hurting resolution.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PS5 versus PS5 Pro: graphics comparison

  • Both consoles have a single display mode at 60 FPS.
  • PS5 runs between dynamic 1800p and 1620p and can drop as low as 1440p.
  • PS5 Pro commonly displays at 2160p.
  • The PS5 Pro gains in global illumination, ambient occlusion and contact shadows are anecdotal.
  • Optimisation is flawless on both, with a constant 60 FPS and ray tracing.

Frequently asked questions about Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

Which platform does Indiana Jones and the Great Circle look best on?

PC, and path tracing is the reason: it improves shadows, global illumination and reflections over the RTGI the consoles use. It does ask for a very strong graphics card. On console, the best image is PS5 Pro.

How many graphics modes does it have on console?

None to choose from: every console runs a single display mode at 60 FPS. The analysis calls that a merit, because it holds those 60 FPS with ray tracing without hurting resolution.

What resolution does each console run at?

Xbox Series X, dynamic 2160p with 1800p-1620p typical. PS5, the same range but dropping to 1440p. PS5 Pro, a common 2160p. Xbox Series S, dynamic 1080p. These are figures from the video analyses, not a measurement of ours.

Does PS5 or Xbox Series X win?

Xbox Series X holds the higher average resolution. PS5 answers with slightly better global illumination. They are very close.

Is PS5 Pro worth it?

For this game, not much. It lifts resolution to a common 2160p, but its gains in global illumination, ambient occlusion and contact shadows are described in the analysis itself as anecdotal.

What does the Xbox Series S version cut?

It drops to dynamic 1080p and cuts reflections, textures, shadows and post-processing effects. There is also some clipping in the ray-traced global illumination.

What graphics card do I need on PC?

It depends on whether you want path tracing. On the top path tracing preset only the RTX 4090 clears 60 FPS at 1080p, at 63-71. An RTX 4080 SUPER gives 50-54, an RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 45-48, and an RTX 3060 falls to 7-8. At 4K no measured card holds 30 FPS.

Should I turn frame generation on?

The analysis says leave it off: it reports the PC version still has problems with it. The spec sheet lists DLSS FG, DLSS MFG and FSR FG.

Is there a Switch 2 version?

We list one, but there is no video analysis and no spec sheet for that version, so it stays out of the table. We do not publish figures we do not have.

Which one is cheapest?

The cheapest key is on PC. Above it sit Xbox and PS5. Prices move every day: the live ones are on each version’s page. Watch out for account offers, cheaper because they are not a purchase in your name.
