Quick verdict

The best version of Gran Turismo 7 is the PS5 one, and on PS4 the game still runs at 60 FPS.

Best graphics experience PS5 2160p at 60 fps, more draw distance and a denser crowd
Best with the controller PS5 DualSense gives road feel, gear changes and pedals
Cheapest key PS5 32 € at Eneba, against 38.54 € for the PS4 key
If your console is a PS4 PS4 1080p and 60 fps, but 40 seconds to start a race

Why PS5 wins

PS5 climbs to 2160p without dropping below 60 FPS. PS4 sits at 1080p and PS4 Pro at 1800p, all three aiming for the same 60. On top of that, the PS5 version improves draw distance, geometry, shadow filtering and ambient occlusion, and fills the track with more crowd and more vegetation.

Loading and size

The difference you feel most is not the image, it is loading: around 40 seconds to start a race on PS4 and PS4 Pro, under 2 seconds on PS5. And the newer version takes less space, 107.6 GB against 112.7 GB.

Ray tracing and price

The PS5 ray tracing does not change the race: it only shows in replays, photo mode and some menus, and there the game drops to 30 FPS. On price, the PS5 key is 32 € and the PS4 key 38.54 €; account offers come out cheaper because they are not a purchase in your name.

None of the three versions holds 60 FPS with rain and 20 cars on track.

Frequently asked questions about Gran Turismo 7

Which console does Gran Turismo 7 look best on?

PS5. It runs at 2160p with 60 FPS, against 1800p on PS4 Pro and 1080p on PS4, and it also improves draw distance, geometry, shadow filtering and ambient occlusion, with more crowd and more vegetation on track.

What frame rate does it run at on each console?

All three versions target 60 FPS: PS4 at 1080p, PS4 Pro at 1800p and PS5 at 2160p. These are figures observed in the video analysis, not a measurement of ours.

Is the PS5 ray tracing mode worth it?

For playing, it changes nothing. Ray tracing only applies to reflections in photo mode, the cinematic camera in replays and some menus, and there the game drops to 30 FPS. Behind the wheel both PS5 modes look the same.

How long are the loading times?

Around 40 seconds on PS4 and PS4 Pro to start a race, and under 2 seconds on PS5. It is the biggest gap between versions.

What does the PS5 version gain over PS4 Pro?

It goes from 1800p to 2160p and improves draw distance, geometry, shadow filtering and ambient occlusion. There is also more crowd and more vegetation, and loading drops from 40 seconds to under 2.

Does it hold 60 FPS at all times?

No. The analysis tested all three versions in the most demanding conditions, tracks with rain and 20 cars on screen, and none holds a locked 60. Even so, he finds the result acceptable on every version.

How much space does Gran Turismo 7 take?

107.6 GB on PS5 and 112.7 GB on PS4 and PS4 Pro. The comparison was made with patch 1.04 applied.

What does the DualSense add?

It is one of the best implementations the analysis has seen: you feel the road under the tyres, the gear changes and the pedal resistance through the triggers. It is exclusive to the PS5 version.

Which one is cheapest?

The cheapest key is on PS5, at 32 €; on PS4 it goes up to 38.54 €. Watch out for account offers, cheaper because they are not a purchase in your name: 13.81 € on PS5 and 14.51 € on PS4.

Is there a PC or Xbox version?

No. Gran Turismo 7 is a PlayStation exclusive, so the comparison runs between PS4, PS4 Pro and PS5.
