Thief: The Dark Project Remastered launches 3 December. Steam Key €29.99 (no fees) on Steam, GOG Key €30.11 (no fees); Deluxe adds art book and soundtrack.

Thief: The Dark Project Remastered comes out on 3 December on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Switch and Switch 2, and preorders are already open. Nightdive Studios is handling the remaster, with Atari publishing.

A remaster of the Looking Glass original

This is the stealth classic Looking Glass Studios released in the late nineties, brought up to date by the team that has spent years restoring old shooters and immersive sims. The package has the original game plus the missions and extra content from Thief Gold.

On top of that there's a new story campaign, The Tarnished Mirror. It comes in the base price, so you won't have to buy it separately later.

Standard or Digital Deluxe

• Standard: $29.99. The game, the Thief Gold content and The Tarnished Mirror.
• Digital Deluxe: $34.99. Adds an art book, the soundtrack and an excerpt from an upcoming novel.

So the extra five dollars only buys extras to read and listen to; the playable content is identical. Physical editions for PS5 and Switch 2 are also up for preorder. There's no confirmed price for any collector's edition yet, so we're not quoting one.

Where to preorder it on PC

The cheapest option right now is the official one: the Steam Key on Steam at €29.99 (no fees). GOG sells its GOG Key for €30.11 (no fees), and the Digital Deluxe there costs €34.78 (no fees).

You'll also see Key4Games at €33.58 (no fees) and Difmark at €39.99 (no fees), but both are Steam Accounts: you get access to an account that belongs to someone else, and the game never ends up in your own library. Paying more for that makes no sense when the key is cheaper.

On PS5, the PlayStation Store also asks €29.99 (no fees); the other PS5 offers we track are accounts.

Is there anything to save by preordering?

Barely. We only started tracking it yesterday, so there's no price history to compare against, and the lowest price today is simply the official one. Preordering gets you nothing cheaper, it just means the game unlocks on day one.

If you'd rather wait for launch and see whether resellers undercut Steam, set a price alert and we'll email you when it drops. All the PC offers are on the page to buy the Thief: The Dark Project Remastered key.

No reviews yet, obviously: the game isn't out.

Prices checked on the morning of 5 November.
