Is Dune: Awakening worth it if I'm going to play solo?

Dune: Awakening is out now, but I have serious doubts before buying it. I like the idea of surviving on Arrakis and exploring the desert, though I don't have a regular group to play with. I'm worried that progressing solo will be hard, or that PvP will turn every trip out to look for resources into a fight.

Is anyone playing it solo? I want to know if you can progress and enjoy it without depending on a clan, or if there comes a point where it gets frustrating. I'm also wondering if the survival stuff stays fun after the first few hours or if it ends up getting repetitive. I don't know much about the Dune universe, so I'd like to know if you need to be familiar with it to enjoy it.

Would you guys recommend buying it now or waiting? I'd like to read opinions from people who are already playing it, especially those who play solo.
