When Spyro finds himself stranded in a strange realm, his journey to discover a way home is interrupted by the arrival of a vicious invading force known as the Scavs. Spyro must make new allies and rise to protect this realm before it's changed forever. Developed by Toys for Bob and published by Activision, this is the first Spyro game released since Spyro Reignited Trilogy (2018) and the first original Spyro game since The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon (2008).

Unlike the original games where Spyro mostly glided and only flew in specific stages, A Realm Beyond lets players take flight as part of his core moveset, allowing seamless switching between ground exploration and the skies at any time. Dive dives increase speed, wing flaps maintain momentum, and magic rings provide boosts. Spyro's flame breath has greater range while flying, functioning more like fireballs, whereas on the ground it behaves more like a flamethrower. Gems remain a very important part of the experience.

The worlds are made to support both ground gameplay and flight, featuring significantly more verticality and layered environments to support flight. Built on Unreal Engine, the game is designed as a "brand-new entry point for new players" while being "full of legacy for long-time fans." Spyro is about zen-like, fluid movement through beautiful worlds—fundamentally different from precision platforming.

Tom Kenny returns as the voice of Spyro, having voiced the character in Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!, Spyro: Year of the Dragon, and Spyro Reignited Trilogy. No prior knowledge is required to have fun. The game targets players seeking exploration-driven platforming with modern flight mechanics and colorful world design.
