Fall of Bali is a historical strategy simulator set in 19th-century Bali, a region fractured into competing kingdoms following the collapse of the Bali Empire. Players assume control of one of these kingdoms—each with distinct geography, military forces, diplomatic ties, and economic conditions—and navigate nearly two centuries of internal conflict while facing the encroaching threat of European imperialism. The game spans from 1767 through the early 1900s, grounding gameplay in documented historical events including the Dutch East India Company's conquest of Blambangan and the final Dutch military expeditions of 1906 and 1908.

Gameplay centers on kingdom management and strategic conquest across an expansive map covering eastern Java, Blambangan, Bali, and Lombok. Players construct and develop cities and villages, managing resources, structures, and economic systems to strengthen their realm. Military campaigns require careful planning—units possess distinct abilities and morale ratings that directly impact battle outcomes, making tactical decisions as important as raw force. Diplomacy and internal stability play crucial roles; low loyalty in cities or declining kingdom stability can trigger uprisings and defections to rival powers.

The core objective is to rise to supreme ruler—the "Susuhunan"—by expanding territory through conquest, careful resource allocation, and strategic alliances. The game emphasizes the interplay between economic development, military strength, and political stability. Each kingdom presents unique starting conditions and strategic opportunities, encouraging varied approaches to dominance.

Fall of Bali appeals to strategy enthusiasts seeking historical depth combined with accessible grand strategy mechanics. The focus on morale, loyalty, and internal stability systems distinguishes it from pure conquest simulators, rewarding players who balance military aggression with administrative competence. The Indonesian historical setting and detailed cultural context offer a refreshing alternative to European-centric strategy games.
