DERAIL is a psychological observation horror game set in the decaying, endless concrete tunnels of the New York City subway system. You are trapped underground in a looping transit environment where your only objective is to survive escalating reality fractures. Rather than spotting anomalies like traditional observation horror games, your unique mechanic involves using a holy camera to cleanse anomalies and escape the loop. This inverts the typical formula—instead of identifying threats, you actively neutralize them through your camera lens, creating a distinct gameplay identity within the horror-observation genre.

The core loop demands constant vigilance and quick thinking. Each run through the subway environment presents new anomalies to identify and cleanse, with the camera serving as both your tool and your lifeline. The game emphasizes atmosphere and tension through its confined underground setting, where the repetitive nature of the transit environment becomes part of the psychological horror. Your survival depends on mastering the camera mechanics and understanding the patterns of reality distortions around you.

DERAIL targets players who appreciate focused, narrative-driven horror experiences with mechanical depth. It appeals to fans of walking simulators and psychological horror who want something more interactive than pure observation, yet more contemplative than action-heavy gameplay. The game's short, intense runtime makes it accessible for players seeking a complete horror experience without extensive time commitment. Its unique camera-based cleansing mechanic differentiates it from both traditional anomaly-spotting games and conventional horror titles, offering a fresh take on how players interact with supernatural threats.
