Deadhaus Sonata is a free-to-play cooperative action role-playing game developed by Apocalypse Studios where players control undead classes in the House of the Dead and fight the living. Set in Malorum, a dark and crumbling world where the lines between life and death no longer hold, the game invites you to embrace the undead, master supernatural powers, and carve your place within a realm shaped by ancient forces, political intrigue, and the choices of its players. Players control a single character from a third-person perspective, alone or with up to five other people, fighting hordes of enemies, collecting large amounts of loot, and fulfilling quests to gain experience points and equipment.

The game focuses on procedural generation, narrative-driven design, and cooperative asymmetric gameplay, as well as looting and fast-action combat. Deadhaus Sonata features a tarot-based skill system where every card represents arcane power shaped by Malorum's forgotten history; cards are earned through quests, battles, and exploration, and each one unlocks new abilities that can be mixed, matched, and upgraded to build for precision, raw power, mobility, tanking, or supernatural control. Loot is earned through feats that track your actions, history, and performance rather than random drops; every item is shaped by what you do, with gear, artifacts, legendary items, and tarot cards all tying into Malorum's supernatural and political history, where playing is crafting and your past becomes a resource that influences your future.

The game features seven distinct undead classes, each aligned with one or more of the core attributes—Physical, Magickal, and Essential—allowing for diverse gameplay experiences as each class offers unique abilities and combat styles. The game features highly systemic mechanics like weather simulation, celestial cycles, and deterministic world states that serve as the foundation of gameplay. Deadhaus Sonata is a story-driven experience featuring more than 15 hours of professionally voiced narration.

Created by Denis Dyack, the game combines Lovecraftian overtones from Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, the Gothic role-playing elements of Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain where you are undead, and action RPG elements of Too Human. The game will feature entirely ethical monetization, avoiding all pay-to-win aspects. This title appeals to players seeking deep narrative experiences, tactical cooperative gameplay, and a fresh approach to loot progression that rewards player agency over random chance.
