Konami took a playable demo of Castlevania: Belmont's Curse to Gamescom, and of everything that came out of the show it is the one people kept coming back to today. Two-dimensional action, a whip that behaves the way a Castlevania whip should, and a new system sitting on top of it called Arcana. Preorders are already open.
The date on the Steam page is 15 October. Nothing has shipped yet, so Steam carries no user reviews and there is no verdict worth quoting; anyone telling you how good it turned out is working from a show-floor demo and their own hopes. What can be measured today is the money, and that part changed suddenly.
Thirty-three offers that showed up in one go
Two days ago this game had no prices at all. Not one store had put it up for sale. Then, over a few hours, 33 offers appeared across 14 stores, and our price history for it starts on that same afternoon.
Two days is nothing. It is enough to say one thing, though: the floor has not shifted by a cent since it appeared. The store asking least is Cdkeys Com, at €20.09, against the €29.99 Steam charges for the standard edition. A gap of €9.90 on a thirty-euro game is worth two minutes of your time.
Live, the cheapest standard edition is € (with coupon AUGGOC10) at Kinguin, and it moves whenever a store does.
Worth knowing while you compare: a few stores take a discount coupon off at the checkout, so the offers above can show a figure slightly below the price the store puts on its own page.

Kinguin turns up three times at three different prices, which is what happens on a marketplace: individual sellers set their own number and the store carries all of them. Same game, same edition, €6.25 between the cheapest Kinguin offer and the dearest one.
The Midnight Edition and the thing nobody explains
There is a second edition doing the rounds, called Midnight. Seven stores have it: Cdkeys Com at €28.29, GamesPlanet at €28.44, Instant Gaming at €28.99, Eneba at €31.07, Driffle at €32.11, Humble Bundle at €39.99 and G2A at €43.42.
Two things about that. Pinning it down was harder than it should have been, because several stores file it under "Standard" anyway and the only dependable way to separate the two was the address of each store's own product page. And the awkward part: we do not know what is inside it. Not one of those seven stores describes the contents, so we are not going to invent them.
What we can hand you is the arithmetic. The cheapest Midnight is €8.20 above the cheapest standard, and it still comes in under the €29.99 Steam wants for the plain version. Whether those €8.20 buy a costume, a soundtrack or a few days of early access, nobody selling it is saying.
Check the region before you pay
GamesPlanet has the standard edition at €21.54, fourth cheapest on the page. Its offer also carries a warning printed by the store itself: that code only activates in Canada and the United States. Bought from Manchester or Madrid, it is a code you cannot redeem.
Restrictions like that live on the seller's page, not on Konami's and not on ours. Preorders make the habit worth keeping, because you are paying weeks ahead of a release for something you cannot test.
Gift copies and shared accounts cost more
Not everything on the page is a code for your own account. There are five Steam Gift copies at €28.15 and €31.92 from G2A and €32.32 and €41.26 from Kinguin, plus one Steam Account, a shared login, at €37.60 from G2A.
All six sit above the standard edition bought as a code. A gift has to be sent by the seller and accepted as a friend before it is yours; a shared account never quite is. Should you preorder it now?
One preorder bonus is confirmed, and only one: GamesPlanet is advertising an Alucard Style Costume with the standard edition. Whether the other thirteen stores are handing out anything comparable, we cannot say, so check the offer of whichever store you pick rather than assuming.
On the money, two days of history and a motionless floor give you no curve to read, so waiting will not teach you anything about the price. Waiting will teach you about the game, because outside Gamescom nobody has played more than a demo and Steam has no user reviews to lean on. Preordering today saves €9.90 against Steam and buys you a game you know almost nothing about; that trade is the whole decision.
