Quick verdict

The best version of 007 First Light is the PC one, and on console PS5 Pro leads.

Best graphics experience PC DLSS 4.5 and frame gen; top 6 GPUs run 101-158 fps at 1080p
Best console experience PS5 Pro a single mode: quality settings and a guaranteed 60 fps
Cheapest key Xbox Series X 43.39 € on Xbox, against 47.98 € on PC and 53.99 € on PS5
Best upscaler DLSS Glacier Engine nails it: best on both image and performance

Why PC wins

Glacier Engine is very well optimised and PC is where that pays off: an RTX 3050 on medium settings already averages 40 FPS, and of the 29 cards we measured, the six fastest run between 101 and 158 FPS at 1080p on the top preset. It is also the only version with DLSS 4.5 and frame generation, and DLSS is the best upscaler on offer here.

PS5 Pro leads on console

On console PS5 Pro wins for a simple reason: it does not make you choose. A single mode with quality-mode settings and a guaranteed 60 FPS, while PS5 and Series X ask you to pick between 30 FPS with better shadows, reflections and resolution, or 60 with cuts. PSSR also gives it a sharpness the others cannot match.

PS5 and Series X, level

PS5 and Series X are close to identical: same two modes, same numbers. PS5 runs slightly better in performance mode, with fewer drops, though they are rare. No graphics analysis has been published for the Switch 2 version.

PS5 and Series X both fall below 1080p in crowded areas.

007 First Light on PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X and PC: graphics comparison

  • PS5 and Xbox Series X get two display modes: quality and performance.
  • Quality locks to 30 FPS to raise settings; performance goes for 60.
  • Shadows, reflections and render resolution are where the two modes differ most.
  • PS5 Pro has a single mode, close to quality, with a guaranteed 60 FPS.
  • PS5 runs slightly better than Series X in performance mode, with fewer drops, though those drops are not common.
  • PS5 Pro gains a lot from PSSR: the sharpness gap against the other consoles is considerable.
  • The PC version stands out for its optimisation: an RTX 3050 on medium settings averages 40 FPS.
  • Glacier Engine implements DLSS very well, and DLSS is again the best upscaler here on both image and performance.

007 First Light on PS5 versus PS5 Pro: graphics comparison

  • PS5 has two display modes; PS5 Pro only has one, at 60 FPS.
  • The PS5 quality mode raises resolution and settings in exchange for a 30 FPS lock.
  • On PS5 Pro the settings match the PS5 quality mode.
  • In areas crowded with NPCs the resolution drops below 1080p on both versions.
  • PS5 Pro is sharper thanks to PSSR.
  • 60 FPS holds steady on both as a rule; PS5 shows the odd drop in action moments, nothing serious.

Frequently asked questions about 007 First Light

Which platform does 007 First Light look best on?

PC. It is the only version with free settings, DLSS 4.5 and frame generation, and the video analysis singles out its optimisation. On console, the best image is PS5 Pro.

How many graphics modes does it have on console?

Two on PS5 and Xbox Series X: quality, locked to 30 FPS, and performance, aiming at 60. PS5 Pro gets a single mode with quality settings and a guaranteed 60 FPS.

What changes between quality and performance mode?

Shadows, reflections and render resolution. Those three are where the gap between the two modes shows most.

What does PS5 Pro add over PS5?

It removes the choice: one mode with quality settings and a guaranteed 60 FPS. It also picks up a lot of sharpness from PSSR, a gap the analysis calls considerable against the other consoles.

PS5 or Xbox Series X?

They are level: same two modes, same numbers. PS5 runs slightly better in performance mode with fewer drops, though those drops are not common.

Does the resolution ever drop?

Yes. In areas crowded with NPCs, both PS5 and PS5 Pro fall below 1080p. That is where it shows most.

What graphics card do I need on PC?

The video analysis averages 40 FPS on an RTX 3050 with medium settings. We measured 29 cards on the top preset: the six fastest run between 101 and 158 FPS at 1080p, with the RTX 5090 leading at 133-158.

Which upscalers and frame generation does it support?

On PC, DLSS 4.5 and FSR 3.1, plus DLSS Frame Generation and DLSS MFG. On console, PS5 Pro uses PSSR. The analysis rates DLSS the best of the lot.

Is there a Switch 2 version?

There is a Switch 2 listing, but no graphics analysis has been published for it, so we cannot say what resolution or frame rate it runs at.

Which one is cheapest?

The cheapest key is on Xbox, at 43.39 €. On PC the key goes up to 47.98 € and on PS5 to 53.99 €. Watch out for account offers, which come out cheaper because they are not a purchase in your name: on PC the account sits at 22.29 €.
