The LIKINO-677 is a large-capacity city bus with 4x2 wheel arrangement, front-mounted engine, automatic hydromechanical transmission and rear axle drive. The first prototype of the bus was produced in 1962. It was mass-produced from 1967 to 1994, piece assembly at third-party assembly plants from machine kits until 2002. In total, about 200,000 buses of all modifications were produced. The buses were gradually modernized, and in 1982, based on a total of 117 changes made, the model index changed to 677M (modernized). The bus was very popular in the USSR republics, about 900 copies of 677E were produced for export (including 370 units for the German Democratic Republic, differing in exterior and interior finish).
The bus was equipped with a V-engine with an output of 180 hp. The use of spring-pneumatic suspension with telescopic dampers and air dampers provides a good, smooth ride at different load levels. Steering is considerably facilitated by the use of power steering, hydromechanical transmission, brakes with separate pneumatic drive on the front and rear wheels.
