What does For Honor offer?

It is a new Ubisoft game focused on melee fighting between warriors of different civilizations. It is a third-person action game that will transport us to a series of battlefields where the brutal melee combat reaches its maximum splendor.

It offers two modes of play, on the one hand, the campaign mode, so we will learn the most movements of several warriors of each of the factions, as this way will take us through a series of chapters framed in each faction. To learn basic skills, this mode is excellent, plus the story is well crafted and can be entertaining.

But where this game reaches its maximum splendor is in multiplayer mode. In this mode, we will have available all the warriors that the game offers, currently 3 per faction. There are many game modes where we will compete in fierce battles against other players from around the world or AI. Among which we highlight the Domain mode, where we must capture and maintain a series of points to reach a certain score, Or 4vs4 mode, where the team that wins the most victories will be victorious.

Combat System

This section is without a doubt the star point of For Honor. The fighting is fun and dynamic, and each hero has his movements and skills that we must learn to use at all times and depend on our rival. For example, shielded heroes have the ability to return all hits they receive until they exhaust their resistance, giving us the capacity to defend ourselves before several opponents at the same time. Killer class heroes execute hits with a lot of damage, but they also receive more damage than normal if they do not manage to evade enemy attacks.

All movements are performed using keyboard and mouse, or with a gamepad, if you have one available. It is easy to use but complicated to get to control to perfection. The combat system is addictive and fun, and each hero is a world replete with possible combinations, combos, and unique abilities. Also, we will be able to block the enemy attacks whenever we move the mouse in the same direction where they attack us. The combat system developed for this title is completely innovative and will allow us to feel the force of each impact, the weight of the weapon and the power of our attacks like never before.

Cultures and their heroes

In principle, there will be three entirely different cultures regarding hand-to-hand combat: We can choose between Samurai, with its fearsome katanas, Vikings, with their impressive two-handed axes, and medieval knights, with a sword in hand and shield. Each with tactical differences and unique abilities that will allow us to feel like never before the cruelty and brutality of battles.

The medieval knights have the Guardian, a fearsome gruyere with a knack able to executor fast movements. The conqueror, a warrior, armed with mace and shield. The pacifier, a killer spice with two daggers. And the Lawbringer, a huge mole with a halberd.

The Vikings have the Invader, a huge Viking with an imposing two-handed ax. The Huscarle, a warrior armed with sword and shield. The Berserker, an agile warrior, armed with two axes. And the Valkyrie, a warrior armed with spear and shield.

The heroes of the samurai side are: The kensei, armed with a large Katana to two hands. The Shugoki, a kind of sumo warrior armed with a huge club with spikes. The Orochi, the typical samurai warrior with his katana. And the Nobushi, a warrior armed with a spear and able to execute berths from a long distance.

Each of these warriors has their armament, their movements and combos or chains of attacks, their qualities, and their defects. Each one is a world in itself when it comes to combat and it is precisely this that makes For Honor a great game, little monotonous and enormously rewarding since if we constantly play with the same hero, we can evolve it and change its appearance.

Evolution and equipment system

In addition, another important factor is the personalization and evolution of our character. As we level up, we can unlock better and better rewards, with objects that will allow us to adapt our style of play. For example, we can buy or loot a shield that considerably increases the launch distance, but reduces the rage whenever we block, which will allow us to focus on pushing and numbing our enemies.

When we reach level 20, which is the level cap, we will get a reputation point and we will return to level 1, but the objects that we will find already may be of category "Rare" or blue, much better than normal or gray and that will enhance even more certain attributes. When we reach the rank of reputation 2, 40 levels, we can find and unlock epic or purple objects, which will enhance two characteristics of our character.

Therefore, it is advisable to save all the steel that we obtain for these levels because the objects like arms, leaves of swords, handles, shields, and any piece of armor can be of maximum level, which will allow us to focus on enhancing two characteristics Instead of one.

Conclusion

A fun and entertaining game, at least at first, although later it can become a bit monotonous due to a few available maps and game modes. Although they need to polish some section, loading times or matchmaking, the game is quite active and it is not difficult to find games where to spend good times and become specialists in a particular class to spread terror among the ranks of the enemy team.
